Old dressers were under both stairwells. Stairs so rusty they had holes. Outside hotel was cluttered. In our room, bathroom sink wouldn't completely shut off and anytime faucet was on it leaked behind sink and ran off into floor. Handicap room did not meet ADA requirements. Towel rack and closet rods were way too high. Toilet was too low. Accessible route around bed into bathroom was very tight. There was no breakfast here but desk clerk said coffee in the morning. Lobby was rarely staffed, usually sign in door with phone number to call if you need anything. I realize this was a cheap place but also lacking.
Stairs up to the second floor looked and felt unsafe. No elevator to second floor. Shower knob fell off in my hand ⊠water pressure poor, sink not draining. Overall not real clean imo.
Check in was good. The room was okay clean at best. A dirty towel was still hanging on the back of the door. The shower curtain rail was so bad they curtain constantly slides to the middle making water go everywhere. In a three night stay our room was never touched, trash wasn't emptied, towels not exchanged, I had to go to the office for more toilet paper. You better bring your own soap and shampoo because you won't get more than a little bar and tube of shampoo. We paid for a suite to have a couch but with the small tv good luck watching tv from there.
The first room that we were given ground floor the door would not lock the cylinder was not centered, was off from the frame. This could not have just happened! I have a habit of always checking when going out that the door is locked. I am not sure that everyone checks that when they leave their room very much a safety risk! The toilet was not seated properly it rocked in the bathroom and had a odor. The refrigerator was warm & rust on the outside. The room was bad !! Went to the front desk. He was not there, note said back in 10 minute. Went to go get a fellow employee to do cleaning in the other adjacent hotel.
Thatâs being refurbished,
He worked quickly to get us out of that room into another room on the second floor. It was much better. That room should never have been allowed to be in occupied until it was renovated I will not stay again.
The room was clean, the bed was firm, but comfortable. There was only a single outlet in the room and the outlet was loose, so we had to get creative to charge our phones.
The other people in the hotel were LOUD. Someone began running back and forth above us around 6am and they kept it up for a while. We were unable to reach anyone in the office, so it made the day less than great. As this was not the fault of the hotel, I canât hold it against them, but the rooms arenât well insulated against sound.
Weâve stayed here several times for a nice weekend getaway. The room is perfect with the heart jetted tub, king size bed is very comfortable, spacious room, clean, quiet. It may not look luxurious from the outside, but it is on the inside. Staff is friendly. Nearby stores and places to eat. Close to Calloway Gardens and Roosevelt State Park.
