The Ocean Maya Royale was a fantastic Adults only All-Inclusive experience. The food was top notch with a variety of options to choose from. If given the option, make sure to upgrade to their Privilege rooms or buy the upgrade as it made a big difference when looking for seating poolside (the main area was quiet crowded whereas the roped off section always had available seating). The entertainment is standard for what you would expect at an All-Inclusive but the activities coordinator (Kendel) really put his heart and soul into creating memorable experiences. The Privilege rooms also have access to a butler you can text, which we found helpful for restaurant reservations. Outside of that, the butler wasn't very helpful and often unresponsive or responses were not timely. There is nothing you can do around the property within walking distance, so a short taxi ride is the only option if you want to get out of the resort. Prices were a bit high ($25-$50 CAD) to get to the shopping area in Playa del Carmen. If city life is what you're looking for, we would consider a resort closer to the shopping district where you can just walk out. If a quieter beach front experience is what you're after, Ocean Maya Royale will not disappoint!

Staff were friendly and fun. Food and options were plentiful. The app to reserve dinner and check out daily activities was easy to use. The pool and beach were beautiful. There was a good combination of entertainment and relaxation. We had an 80 minute couples massage at the spa that was absolutely amazing. Because of that, we went back for a second one but that one was just ok. It was difficult to get a chair at the pool. We went out as early as 8am to try and get a seat by the activities pool and all the chairs were already “reserved” yet there was hardly anyone at the pool. Hot water was a hit or miss in the shower. Overall, we had a great time celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary in Mexico.

Ocean Maya is an absolutely beautiful resort. Every detail was excellent, from the staff, the food, and the entertainment, they had everything we were looking for. The rooms and grounds were so well maintained, the bars were efficient and incredibly well staffed (shout out el Tigre), and the food was amazing in every single restaurant! Overall this is one of the best resorts I’ve ever visited and you can get there on a budget. Only thing I wish was that we had more time there! 10/10 stay!

Room was clean and well stocked when asked them to. Very disappointed in food choices not enough restaurants. Asked for close room was not given a very close room due to my problems with walking. The worst part are the bug bites I have all over both my legs they are very big and itchy could not even sit on our patio for longer than ten minutes. This was my 4th or 5th ocean stay and I guess I just expected more. I will say this the staff at this resort were all very friendly and helpful, very kind to all of us.

The property was spotless and well maintained. The food was good, fresh, and enjoyable, though not quite exceptional. The entertainment staff truly made our trip; they were energetic, fun, and went above and beyond to keep everyone engaged. We never felt like we missed out by not booking the Preferred package. Booking through Expedia was seamless and included all the extras we needed for a great stay. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Everything was great! The food was delicious, the rooms were clean and cleaned well every day, and the staff were all very friendly! They had great activities every day as well. I broke my toe while playing beach volleyball during my stay (all me and obviously had nothing to do with the resort) but the lifeguards were all very helpful and made sure I was comfortable and taken care of, and there was immediately a staff member there to translate the lifeguard that did not speak a lot of english. Overall, even though the vacation ended with a broken toe, it was a great vacation and great resort!

Everyone on staff was very friendly! Plenty of things to do around the clock, whether you want to stay up and party or get up early and exercise. Their section of the beach was great. Overall, our stay was good, but there were definitely a few areas that could be improved. Communication at check-in was lacking, esp considering we paid extra to upgrade to Privilege. One of the travel desk reps gave us misinformation about jet skis being available at the hotel. We found them ourselves at the end of the beach. The food was about what you’d expect at an all-inclusive resort — not better or worse than others. That said, we did receive great service from the wait staff throughout our stay. be prepared to tip everyone who serves you; that’s simply how it works at most AI’s in Mexico. The room was nice & clean, but extremely cold & it seemed like the thermostat didn’t do anything to control the temperature. The Privilege upgrade was decent overall. I’m not sure the butler service is worth the extra cost, though the butlers themselves were very kind & helpful. The separate Privilege restaurant & designated seating areas by the pool & beach were a nice touch & added to the experience. One thing I appreciated is that this isn’t a timeshare property, so there was no hassle from anyone trying to sell you something. The nightly entertainment was okay — they cater to a certain crowd w/mostly EDM/techno music. It keeps the energy up but leaves out those who prefer variety. I’ve seen better shows at other resorts. The spa was small but nice. All in all, it wasn’t a bad stay, but with so many great places to choose from in Mexico I’d try somewhere else next time.
