They could use some upgrades...little things like power strips. I had to unplug a lamp to plug in my computer. Every outlet has something plugged into it and there simply aren't enough of them.

The hotel was recently renovated, so I was excited to stay here again. However the toilet didn’t work even after we called for maintenance and they said they “fixed” it. The shower wall looked like it hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived, and there was debris on the floor by the closet as if they hadn’t swept or mopped. The heater/air conditioner was so noisy we tried not to use it.

The staff at the John Carver are very nice. When we had an issue they were very apologetic and tried their best to correct it. However, the problem shouldn’t have occurred in the first place. We checked in at the front desk no problem. When we got to our room everything appeared fine, however they had recently painted the door frame. And by recent, I mean in previous hour or two. I know this because we got paint on our hands and some of our belongings and the door was sticking shut because of the wet paint. That room should not have been available for guests to check into. When we went down to notify the front desk and request a different room, the girl at the desk could not have been more apologetic and sweet. Obviously it wasn’t her fault. But clearly there was poor communication with the management and maintenance staff. They did move us to another room, but it was a hassle moving our things and we still ended up with paint in several places on our body and belongings from brushing against the wet door and frame. I would not stay at the John Carver in the future. While is a perfect location in Plymouth, it is pretty run down and sorely in need of maintenance. And the management and maintenance staff really need to communicate better.

Mostly horrible stay

The waterslide was not working in the pool half of our time there and The entire hotel Reeked like chlorine giving my husband a headache and causing my husband to be unable to sleep our entire stay, there were no stations on the television and except a couple of crappy ones with far too many commercials in the smallest television we have ever seen! I would like a voucher for a different hotel or a refund or something because we were disappointed for so many reasons!

I truly love the location of this hotel. It is right in the heart of downtown Plymouth. There is so much to keep the kids busy within the area. My only complaint is regarding cleanliness in the pool area. At the top of the slide "the mayflower" there is water that you can tell has been sitting for a while. You can see mold and algae forming at the top. The pool dividers were also almost brown kind of like a rusting brown color. The water looked fine it was just the surroundings in the pool area. That entire area needs a really good cleaning. Specially the sitting water at the top. If this water gets mixed in with the slide/ pool water it will definitely not be safe for children and adults. Mold is pretty dangerous to our health. Other than that the staff was very friendly and awesome.

The kids loved the pool and arcade area. My daughter enjoyed the spa. The pool area could really use some updating. Convenient location and parking. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and quiet. Restaurant was closed two of the days we were there, but there were plenty of other options. I would have given a 5 except for the pool area.

Been staying there for 3 years now. Never had an issue whichbis why we returned. This past week, they had issues with hot water. We moved rooms 3 times. They neglected to post or inform customers that the kitchen was not open for breakfast duebto a Mother's Day Brunch, which was not posted anywhere on the property. Ownership needs to update there communication process, as well as the condition of the parking lot. It is starting to look very outdated.

Its Ok

Proximity to waterfront and downtown Plymouth are the big pluses. Hotel is serviceable but worn. Loved the breakfast cafe, really good. A/C was excellent.
