Backing in to the railway line with regular night trains will be disturbing unless you are a train spotter, the property is old and pretty creed. Good Luck!
The lack of information regarding the facility re Toilet Bathrooms
No kettle or cups in room had water but no glasses
As a senior person the stairs were dangerous
It may be suitable for Backpackers but they also might expect better
The motel is located directly on a railway line, and several trains passed by at night. The motel is quite dated. But the two receptionists, who were apparently on their first day, were very nice and tried everything to salvage our stay.
A quiet secure property with secure parking.
Very good family reception in a traditional Aussie hotel. It had not been overly modernised and maintained a historic homage to the original service that an establishment of this type would provide in times past.
The Pampas Hotel Port Augusta is a complete disgrace and a far cry from its "4-star" claim â a clear breach of trading standards. My room was unsanitary: mold in the shower tiles, terrible bathroom grouting, and a broken toilet seat with faeces marks were utterly repulsive.
Beyond the grim hygiene, the room had broken drawers and an exposed ceiling vent. Peace was impossible due to unsupervised children and constant noise from staff accessing storage rooms. The shared kitchen facilities led to relentless door slamming, completely negating any privacy in my supposedly private room.
While the bed was comfortable, this hotel is unfit for purpose. I'm reporting them to consumer ombudsman and environmental health. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.
