This penthouse apartment is beautiful and the location is ideal for exploring all of downtown Portland on foot. The neighborhood was safe (we were with our 3 small children), and cheap/free street parking was easy to find.
Checkin process was super easy with both back and front door access points. Shopping, bars, restaurants all within a few feet. The reading nook in the unit was adorable for the kids.
Issues for the host to address:
#1 - Our internet did not work at all for our entire 3 night stay. He told us to troubleshoot the router, but that did nothing and we were left with no WIFI and no TV (with 3 small kids) for the whole trip. The TV runs solely on streaming services. We had to use our personal hot spots on our phones and laptops and incur charges through AT&T for that. This was totally not acceptable in my book.
#2 - The seagulls nesting on the roof. This penthouse has sky lights on both levels and the bedrooms are both upstairs. I barely slept for 3 nights due to screaming gulls living on the roof. Dozens of them. Something needs to be done about this.
#3 - The bathroom is downstairs. This needs to be told upfront in the listing. I wouldn't have booked this if I knew the bathroom was totally separate from the bedrooms. Anyone who needs to use the bathroom at night will not love this.
#4 - Dirt and dust falling from the ceiling. The floor and desk area were covered in dirt/grit. We had to clean it daily.
Overall, wouldn't stay again.
