Wonderful historic hotel in downtown Rochester, N.H. Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable clean rooms, center city access. Good pricing. Great experience.
The Governor's Inn is a 100 year old building that has gone through several changes over the years. It's in need of renovation, which the owner, from what I can see is working to get the place ship-shape. The staff & services though make up for any inconvenience. The restaurant, bar & music venues are first rate. People from all around the area stop by to enjoy. There is no elevator, however the staff, at no prompting are willing to help with your luggage.Everything considered, it's a good value. There is a lot of history at the Governor's Inn.

Great-why skimp on heat??
The people were super nice from when you walked in until you left. Very helpful. We ate dinner in the Steak restaurant/Pub and it was fantastic! Food is great! We had a large suite type room and it was very large and had furnishings but the tv was way to small to see from across the large room. The bathroom fixtures were loose and coming off but the biggest think was it was 32 degrees out and there was no heat. They had this small fan type heater that we had on high the whole time and it was so cold I would not even shower. We had told them it was cold prior to dinner and she said that she would see if they could turn the heat up.... that didn't happen.
But otherwise, I would recommend the restaurant and the hotel to anyone who was going to this area, but just don't go when its cold out! I did see a large ac in the closet so it would probably cool the room (if they put it in-lol) The people made up for the lack of heat with their warm friendly attitudes! They did have someone with a large dog in the room down the hall also, which was weird to me????
A really nice stay in an historic mansion. The rooms are good sized with a comfortable bed and blackout curtains which was nice. The on site restaurant was great for drinks and dinner. Would definitely recommend.
This is a lovely hotel with charming rooms!! The staff are amazing and welcoming. While we live quite far from here, we are thinking it would be worth the travel from Texas back to The Governors Inn just so we could spend more time here. First class all the way!!!
I’ve stayed here multiple times. It’s an older property which hasn’t quite been updated with modern features such as ample outlets and dated fixtures, but it’s a pleasant place to stay. It sort of has antique charm. Staff are friendly and there’s restaurant in the main building. It’s also walked to the center of town for more restaurants, bars, and shopping.
The staff was wonderful. I had a waiter from the restaurant named John. he was fabulous. He gave great recommendations. The food was delicious. Check-in was easy.
This is our 2nd time staying here. The rooms are nice and large. Restaurant and bar is excellent. Love how they preserve the quality of the older part of the inn
Although the staff was terrific, hotel conditions were absolutely horrible. Disgusting, dirty floors, hairs in the shower and stains on the bedding. My wife and i stayed on New Year's Eve for our first time at the "hotel", and it will definitely be our last.
Excellent bed and breakfast in local city. Goes above and beyond in service and accomodates all request. Plus in later january to march they have weekly band play
Was looking forward to a drink at the bar at 9pm on a Friday evening. Only to be told they were closing up (although a sign right behind the bar promoting but one get one drafts from 9-10.
Wonderful inn with wonderful staff and restaurant. Centrally located. So glad we found it. I can’t say enough about the great staff. They make you feel like you our home.
