Digital detox in our charming 100-year-old farmhouse on 21 acres (largely forested), 10 minutes from the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, near Mt St Helens, Mt Rainier & White Pass. Four bedrooms, bath/shower, full kitchen, outdoor fire pit, & outdoor area for recreation.
The space
Our city kids loved spending their weekends here while growing up. Made from first-growth timber from the turn of the century, the house is walled in restored vintage fir bead board, has built-in cabinetry and architectural details made from poplar. Warm and inviting, you will be charmed by the cozy antique furnishings and cozy surroundings.
The four bedrooms will sleep 8 people. There is a tiny room upstairs great for private time or reading. There is a covered shed where we store firewood. There is a 1940 two-hole outhouse built during WWII, that will be renovated in 2025.
If you have a city dog, he or she will LOVE Randle. There is a lot of space where your pet can run free, without concern for cars. Please let us know if you plan to have your pet join you. We request that you bring bedding or a crate for your pet; pick up outdoor deposits and don't let them on the furniture.
Cats are not permitted. Cats don't understand the need to stay off of furnishings, and litter box debris creates a lot of extra work.
Please be considerate with regard to your pets. It will enable us to continue offering to let them stay without a damage deposit or additional charges. Maximum: 2 well-mannered dogs (Return guests in good standing can exceed 2 if they let us know.)
This is a country house that our family has used for three decades. You are experiencing it the same way we do. Please treat it with care :) Thank you.
Guest access
Guess will NOT have access to wi-fi, cable, broadband, or satellite dish. Guests WILL have access to solitude, starry skies, wilderness, and peacefulness. (NOTE: You will have access to your mobile service.)
The attic and basement are OUT OF BOUNDS.
Other things to note
There is a lot of firewood on the property. If there isn't a stack already cut in the woodshed, it's easy to forage for wood along the paths. In consideration of the next guest, if you deplete the firewood supply, please pick up a bundle or two from the local grocery store, Fischer's Market.
If you encounter "cluster flies," or a hatch of ladybugs, they do not bite and are not attracted to garbage. Their presence is a good indication of an earthwork supply not far away. To remove them, the best thing to use is the vacuum.
This is a country house, and it is occasionally "visited" by field mice. They are adorable, but in order to discourage them, we suggest our guests leave food in the refrigerator or in sealable containers.
If you move around furniture or our possessions, please return things to their original locations so we know they’re not missing. Thanks!
