Sewage smell

On entering our room it smelt as though someone had just used the toilet and was in need of “VIP Poo” treatment. We assumed the smell would go once the fan was on. On arriving back that evening and with the door closed it seemed better but as we opened the bathroom door - the smell seemed worse! We did soldier thru leaving the light on so the fan would stay on to get rid of this sewage like lingering smell! But come morning it got unbearable and after breakfast (we will get to that) we requested to move. The staff member at the time was apologetic and moved us to another room that was available straight away. The breakfast was added to my booking but it seemed to be offered as “complimentary” when we down to the breakfast area. We asked of vegetarian sausages would be available on the front desk. We were advised that shouldn’t be a problem and just ask in the morning. However when we did that we were told because breakfast is complimentary having hot options are an additional extra - meaning “be happy with what you got”! Which was dry over cooked eggs and bland beans (and def no vege option of sausages). We’ve stayed in Ibis hotels across the UK and will probably stay in them again but not sure this would be an option for us the next time we come to Reading.

Lovely hotel, We defo would stay again

Everything was splendid great price i would defo stay again and recommend it to others, its a shame that coz im homeless and poor i couldn't b staying anytime soon. Thank you x

Pleasantly Surprised

Very spacious room, clean and modernised. Would recommend, close to a lot of shops and very easy access to town via taxi. Thank you for the gorgeous cake that was left in our room as a surprise. The cake was delicious. Thank you very much for a pleasant stay.

A room with no entry

Pros: Planet Mars

Cons: Yes stop using them

Location: Not worth it

Arrived 11pm to find my prepaid room had gone. When I say gone, what I am really saying is there was one room left for me, however this room was previously occupied by another customer early on in the day. They complained their room was damp, smelly. He ho, what did they do, move them to the one room left ( mine ). When I arrived I was informed what they had done. They could have called me in the day to rebook my room elsewhere or they could have also offered the customer who complained a room somewhere in the other IBIS hotel in the centre of Reading. No, no chance, they thought we will make it easy for them and as hard as possible for the customer who had not arrived yet. Lets not call them, lets not prepare a room in the other IBIS to make it as easy as possible. Lets just disrupt his whole arrival by saying sorry, but make him wait even longer. Then make him take his things and drive to the other hotel where he has to drive around for NCP car park. Shambles. This is what you get in a area of demand where they do not care about anything. Will NEVER USE AGAIN!

Wouldn't recommend

Clean on surface but needed a deep clean - room and corridor smelled terribly of damp. Friendly staff, very average breakfast.
