We booked this trip to celebrate my sonâs 9th birthday, and his one request was a house with a hot tub. The property management company, Vacasa, knew the hot tub was broken before we booked but did not update the listing or inform us. We discovered it was ice cold and nonfunctional on arrival and were only told upon calling to ask about it that it was a known issue with a missing part to fix it. Even after explaining the purpose of our trip and offering to use a hot tub at another nearby Vacasa property, our request was denied.We were also unable to access the thermostat in the main living space for the entire trip; it was locked at 62 degrees and the house was very cold. There were no instructions in the Vacasa app, VRBO app, or house manual. Multiple messages and calls went unanswered or led nowhere, and the access codes we were eventually provided did not work. We received no meaningful follow-up.We were only refunded a tiny percent of our payment despite all these issues and waiting 4 hours in a queue for customer service support. Disappointing since our son's birthday was ruined and we'll be out even more money trying to make it up to him. The house itself is cute and rustic, with board games, books, and movies provided, which would be great under other circumstances. If it's ever managed by a company other than Vacasa, Iâd recommend it. Caveat: the gaps in the loft and staircase railings are not up to code and could pose an entrapment risk for young children.
