Everything was good but I did not know the house is for sale. The rooms were clean, the hot tub was very nice and the location worked well. Checkin and customer service was fantastic.
We had an incredible family weekend at this beautiful home right on Rockaway Beach. We watched the sunset every evening from the hot tub on the huge deck overlooking the ocean. The outdoor firepit was huge and perfect for roasting marshmallows for smores. All the beds were very comfortable and the place was sparkling clean when we arrived. We would definitely come back again.
Everything was great except the microwave did not work and we had plans to use it. I know there was scheduled to fix the microwave before we got there and the appointment was canceled. We still had a wonderful time with our family.
While the management company has been begging us to leave a 5 star review I have to share our honest review of this stay. We wanted to LOVE it but our experience was subpar and wish someone else had pointed out the lack of A/C.
This home was a BIG disappointment. Paying $1700 for two nights, we expected a nice little oceanfront get away. The location of the house was perfect! Right on the ocean and an idyllic view overlooking Twin Rocks Arch.
The house itself was neglected. Been on the market for a year. The beds were saggy and uncomfortable. The furniture was dated, dingy and too big for the space. Kitchen chairs separated when you moved them. There were minimal amenities in the kitchen with the exception of a handful of spices. And no coffee at all! Eek!
But the worst was the lack of air conditioning. We were there during the last week of August and the place was like an oven. Temp inside the house reached 90 at night and it was miserable to try to sleep. (I won't say sleep because none of us could sleep). There was a single portable fan in the house. When we complain to the management company that the house was too hot and miserable, they simply deflected that the house wasn't advertised with A/C. We tried to open windows but the main room didn't have anything but a door that did not have a screen and that wasn't an option to leave it open at night.
So if you are planning to rent in the warmer months be wary. The windows make this a hotbox without any AC
Pros: The location was superb, with a private path directly to a vast, beautiful beach with sea stacks nearby. There were four rooms with queen beds, which was great for our all-adult group of 7. The property management company communicated well, check-in was easy with clear instructions and the place was clean when we arrived. The deck is large and has great views. The fire pit was great.
Cons: The photos make everything look much more spacious, light and airy than it actually is. There were several janky things about the place: One big window in the eating area had a murky white film in between the panes, obscuring the view. The oven door hinges were really tight, requiring yanking it open fully. The grill didn't get hot enough to cook our dinner fully. Most of the sheets were the cheap-o synthetic stuff. The screen door from the living room to the deck was stuck in place/didn't slide. The furniture was typical low-budget rental stuff.
Now, none of this would be a big deal if this place wasn't hundreds of dollars per night more expensive than other similarly sized properties in the area. At the price we paid, I expected it to just be nicer and not have some of these fixable issues. The property has been on the market for a number of months and it is clearly not a priority of the owners to spend any money on it.
Don't be duped by the higher price - it definitely doesn't mean it's nicer. It is not.
Nice property on a cul de sac.Very well appointed. Very clean and comfortable. Tv control situation was overly complicated and a few lightbulbs burnt out. Wished there had been lights on the deck. Cute path to the beach. Nice ocean view from house. Weather was cold and rainy but we were happy and comfortable.
Everything was basically perfect. Some of the highlights were the view, location and neighborhood and the cute path to the beach. The house included everything we needed and was perfect for our multi generational trip to the beach.
I stayed here with my husband, almost 4 year old, friends and their 4 year old and another couple. The house was clean, well appointed and cozy.
Deck had stunning views - we enjoyed dinner there each night. Grill was clean and worked well. We also used the hot tub each day, sometimes multiple times.
Less than a minute walk down a charming path to the beach. Beautiful wide open beach, for which the house has lots of sand toys and kites you are welcome to use.
We also loved the firepit to make smores or adults to hang out after bedtime.
If I were reaching for feedback, it may be helpful to have a rollaway bed as I suspect Iâm not the only party of six adults, 2 children who has stayed with 4 beds (which were very comfy!!) We had the boys share the bed, but that ended up being challenging with playful 3/4 year olds. Entirely possible the management company had this available - we never reached out to inquire.
Truly hope to be back, I LOVED this property.
Perfect place for a family gathering. Everything that is advertised is perfect. We had no TV or internet connection for the entire time which was alright to just get away from the distractions. The only problem was when we couldnât reserve tickets for the train online. We will go back to this place again sometime.
The location of this property is very convenient and accessible to the beach. The living area both inside and out is very conducive to a family vacation. Lots of room for the kids to run around, and separation when you want it. Would certainly recommend it for a Rockaway Beach vacation.
Everything and more in what I consider a top notch beach house to be!
I would give this property 5 stars +, my family and I enjoyed every aspect of this house. Exceptionally well maintained property, cleanliness and comfort was paramount! Communicating with the managers was so easy, from time of booking to our departure. Such a lovely short private walk along the path from the backyard property to the beach. It was apparent that every detail at this property was done with professionalism and care, to make our stay as comfortable and welcoming as possible.
This home was the perfect beach vacation with our two young kids, our friends and their toddler. We would go back in a heartbeat. Home was clean and well stocked. House felt safe and private with beach access. We enjoyed the hot tub for some relaxation after kids were in bed. Highly recommend!!
Well done. Needed a break from the snow packed tundra of Utah. This home provided that with the crashing of waves in the background. The ocean is the perfect medication. Great communication.
One exception to excellence was the lack of a simple can-opener for opening a can of tomato paste. I searched for It for thirty minutes then recruited all guests to join in the quest whereupon we all spent another half hour searching the whole house, garage, âtoolâ closet, etc., in vain for the elusive opener. Finally I McGivered a solution by using an oyster knife and makeshift hammer (no hammer either) from the wood pile which saved the day and allowed us to have pizza for dinner.
We enjoyed the homes views and location for our stay on the Coast. The magical walk to the beach revealed a wide beach that provided hours of entertainment (walks, sandcastles, kites). The view from the hot tub was lovely. Enjough space for two families (4 and 3 person) to easily stay. Communication with host was easy for check-in and check-out, and we didnât need any assistance during our stay.
Visited the PNW and booked this last minute. Process was seamless. Home was great as was location. Loved listening to the waves and sitting in the hot tub in the fog.
