Great Location but Shabby House

We loved the location on a quiet street with the beach right in your backyard. BUT the house was old and poorly maintained. The shower head was held up with packing tape and dangled at an angle that just sprayed backward at the wall. Everything was dusty and there were dirty dishes in cupboards and the bedsheets were full of hair. We might return to Rockaway Beach, but won't be staying in this house.

Great, well loved beach house

Great little house on the beach. You can get to the beach but it’s a little steep. Kitchen could use a good reorganization and some cobwebs above shower and bedroom. Shower head falls out of holder and could easily hit someone. We would definitely stay here again. Perfect for two or a small family.

Wild Beachfront

I loved this house, the kitchen was stocked with literally everything, even turkey roasting pans. Very nostalgic reminded me of family vacations in the past. We found the furnishings very comfortable and enjoyed the living room view. We saw a coyote casually walking down to the beach, eagles and seals of course. Didn’t see any whales but the fishing boats were interesting.The whole stay was wonderful and the direct beach access was great. The sand is soft so some may find it challenging.When we entered the house the floor is very sloped and uneven so be careful. Also, the steps risers are uneven but you get used to it in no time.

Great location, some issues

The location is perfect -- right on the beach. The place is clean. The fireplace is lovely, and the kids enjoyed the piano. The only downsides for us were a lot of maintenance issues: only one (out of six) electric plug worked in the kitchen, the fridge failed on us (we used the extra one in the entryway), some towel holders came right off the wall with slight pressure, the shower head holder broke, and the heater by the bunkbeds did not work (the bunkbeds are literally in the laundry room, separated from the kitchen by a (flimsy) curtain. To be clear, the local team was prompt and responsive. That said, one would expect better maintenance all around. None of this deterred us from having a good time, though.

friends getaway weekend

Stayed here as a group of 5 friends, ladies' weekend away. This property is a great combo of location and interior space. It was quiet and out of the mainstream. Description says no beach access but we easily got down to the beach directly from the house. There's a path carved into the steep bank. Maybe the path's usability is weather dependent? We enjoyed sitting on the good-sized deck, visiting or snoozing in the sun. The large common area facilitated visiting whether sitting in the living room, at the dining table, or in the kitchen. A nice space for being in sight and voice-reach of each other while still feeling we could be in our own corner reading or tuning out. Dining room table was good for a game of scrabble. Plenty of seating of various types. In the entry way, we stumbled a couple of times where the floor dips; a bit of an issue but knew about it from other reviews and got used to stepping over it. The microwave was kind of funky, took a bit to figure out how to use it but I thought it was a fun thing. Very nice decor, comfortable furniture, good sleeping spaces. The bunkbed in laundry area is likely too short for some people; we used it and it was a nice option. A 2nd bathroom would have been nice but we preferred to be right on the beach with this house. Beach chairs were there for us to use. I loved the long-time family-owned background. Easy drive to Tillamook for a tour of the factory and some fresh-made icecream; worth the drive. Thanks for the good stay!

After 6 visits over 10 years, it isn't the same

This is a rustic, well used beach house. Being able to walk directly into the sand from the back porch is really great. Be prepared for MAJOR sand in the house. The outdoor shower on the deck was great and it does help a lot with sand. The drop to the beach and climb back up from the beach is pretty steep, although fairly short, so make sure you have good knees. The house itself is well used but it was not as clean as we expected. A lot of the kitchen items are now very used and some are no longer usable (ie. can opener, I bought one and left it there). Be sure to bring your own spices, foil, cling wrap, laundry soap and dryer sheets if you care about your clothes actually getting clean. The generic soap they offer doest do the job.The chairs are old and you sink into them, the antique chairs smell, the bathroom looks nice but had an awful BO odor. LOTS of carpet stains in the bedroom. I could not get the dining room table clean. The beds were very comfy for us but they are very soft. If you prefer a firm bed, look elsewhere. By the time we left after 7 days, our backs were very sore. So much has changed in the home in the last several years since our prior stay and we won't be back. The personal trinkets throughout the house have been removed including the guest sign in books to share memories which was sad. It needs updating and a deep clean.

Great home for wave watching!

Spent half the time outside on the dune’s edge watching the waves and the other half walking the beach. The entrance was just a short distance from the home so we were able to run back up as needed. House was as advertised. We didn’t bring a dog but our socks became covered with dog hair/dander but to be expected a bit from a dog friendly home.

had a wonderful and memorable stay for our annual beach solstice celebration. The house was great and spacious, the view and location Amazing. Having the piano was such a nice bonus! Beds were super comfortable. Def would recommend.

Everything was perfect except for the windows and the table had something on it that made the paper plate stick and it was really hard to get it off. It’s like a gummy feeling other than that the state was fantastic housekeeping was great.

My Stay at Sea Mist

We absolutely loved this house and location. It was just beautiful. The beds were comfy with lovely soft bedding. The view amazing with a huge sandy front for the dogs to play in. Loved that it was at the end of the street for quiet and privacy - I will be back!

Stayed here with my elderly mother and family. Really easy access to the beach people with mobility issues. She could see the water from the living room. Would stay here again!

Beach trip

The location was fabulous. The beds were so comfortable. We all slept well. I didn't mind at all that the house was dated. It had some charm. When we arrived, I noticed the white bathroom rugs looked super dirty. I threw them into be washed but couldn't find any laundry soap. I used liquid dish soap instead. They were completely white and clean after that, so it was clear they hadn't been washed in a long time. That made me cringe wondering what else hadn't been cleaned. This house is not stocked like typical homes I've stayed in. You will need to purchase even the basic cooking staples if you wish to make anything. There was a tiny bit of salt and pepper. Also bring shampoo and conditioner. There is not enough for more than one person to use. Otherwise we loved the place.

Kitchen is outdated, cabinets, drawers stick. Broken and old outdoor furniture, also very uncomfortable. The TV is not a smart TV, we could only watch Direct TV! Absurd considering how inexpensive smart TV's are these days. I would not stay here again or recommend this property.

Very poor first impression. Garage door falling apart. Extreme overgrowth of landscape swallowing front of house. Lost hot water on day 3. Lights in kitchen not working. In the good side, great location. Ocean front. We’ll stocked kitchen with lots of pots pans etc. and home was very clean. simply need to address deferred maintenance

Fun time

The house was wonderful. Beautiful view of the waves from back yard and from house and so quiet and peaceful. Would recommend it to everyone. Sound of waves was so soothing. Very short walk across backyard to ocean overlook. About 8 foot drop to beach itself. Best part was standing there with my grown son and watching the waves, when seagull flew over and pooped on his head. Laughed so hard. Thank you for that.

Always enjoy this place!

This is a cozy little spot with the most amazing beach access. You can walk out the back door straight down to the beach! We love the piano, the fireplace and back deck. This was our second visit and I’m sure there will be many more to come!

I would not stay again

I traveled with my husband and two children. When we got there there were stains on the duvet cover multiple stains on the carpet in bedrooms. I did not like the house because it did not have a clean relaxing feel. It felt like someone I’ve been living in the house multiple years and I was just borrowing it for a few days. Yes I know it’s a vacation rental and so it is someone’s home. But it did not have a cleanliness and relaxation feel. The sheets were over 10 years old. Old towels. Old blankets, antique chairs with holes and rips in them that were gross. Random assortment of dishes nothing clean and tidy. I felt like I had to run the dishwasher before we even use the dishes. The outdoor shower was nice it had multiple temperatures on it and could even do warm. The view was really nice. But a big Sandune was blocking the beach. The bathroom and kitchen were clean. My husband and kids had a good time at the location but I would never stay there again. Or recommend it

Clean and great location

Home is in a great location and had all the essential items needed. If you are looking for an updated property, this is not the property for you. The interior is older with eclectic furniture and decor. However, the place was very clean. The only downfall is even though the property is ocean front, you can not see the waves or beach sands as the property sets back aways and there is a 10ft cliff to the beach. But once you walk out to the edge of the property, the view is amazing, so bring lawn chairs.

Relaxing Getaway

Just as described. Clean and relaxing. Master King is very comfortable. Great beach view through all the windows. Kitchen has everything you need. Husband enjoyed the piano! Privacy wall/screen much needed for deck. Great place for a getaway!

Perfect place for a beach getaway

This place is homey and comfortable. You can’t ask for easier beach access. Anyone with pets will love the ease in accessing the yard. If you are looking for sleek and modern this is not the place. If you want comfortable, clean and eclectic you will love this place as much as we did! Waking up and having coffee in the deck while watching the waves crash onto the beach was pure relaxing bliss. The rental Management company was helpful and polite. Excellent customer service.
