Where to begin...? This flat is only 3 blocks from the Vatican. On our full-day tour of the Vatican (Papal Audience, lunch, museum, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica), we were able to dress warmly for the audience and then go to the flat to shed some layers for the rest of the day. Most convenient! We taxi'd to the other side of the river and walked and walked and walked. Rome is huge and so much to see. Rather than a Hop On-Hop Off bus, just pick an area and walk. There is so much to experience "on the ground" that you might miss from the bus. The apartment itself is wonderful. It is big! It's on a small private street so secluded. On the 4th floor - there is a lift so not to worry. There is a huge living area with the TV. Large entry space. A nice-sized kitchen that is fully equipped (even a dishwasher!). The bedroom is spacious with a dresser and plenty of hanging space. The bathroom is equipped with a toilet, bidet, sink, shower, and a washing machine. Energy is very expensive in Italy so not many have dryers. No worries - there is a rack for hanging clothes inside or outside on the balcony. You can see St. Peter's from the balcony.
Best of all, this apartment comes with a very helpful and efficient host! We enlisted Giovanni to arrange a sedan to pick us up at the airport. He connected me with the driver via WhatsAPP so there were no concerns about where to meet, etc. He was there when we got there (after some delays on our part). When we got to the apartment, there were three people waiting for us to show us around. Again, when we left, the driver was there exactly on time to take us to the airport. Giovanni was available via email for questions and we asked many.
It was just the two of us so the apartment was very roomy. The sofa might convert to a bed, but I'm not sure. If so, a family of 4 would be quite comfortable.
Thank you, Giovanni, for all you and your team did to make our stay enjoyable and memorable!
