Perfect for an Appley Beach holiday

Middle Lodge is a perfect location for stunning Appley beach, being only a short walk along a lane. The kitchen was a well equipped, the house is generally comfortable, comfy beds and fluffy towels. The stairs are very steep and so this is for the nimble only!

Absolutely beautiful house and garden, and such a relaxing experience

Absolutely beautiful house and garden, and such a relaxing experience. Could have easily spent the whole holiday just enjoying the house! Waking up to see the red squirrels frolicking in the trees outside the bedroom window was magical. Perfect location for easy access to beach and shops etc for those non-car drivers. The Island Holiday Company were a delight and super helpful too.

A lovely house in an excellent location with very little that could be done to improve it further - except perhaps remove the shutters downstairs which tend to make the rooms darker than they should be - but that is I suppose a matter of individual taste.

This house is an absolute gem and we really enjoyed our time here. The setting, location, car parking were perfect. Very quiet and short walk to the beach. The kitchen was well equipped. Let us know if this house is ever going on sale We traveled with my parents who are in their mid 70’s. The sofa furniture in the living room are not comfortable and to low for the elderly generation.

Beautiful lodge in the middle of a park , 1 minute walk to beach. Overall very clean and very high class linen and towels. Felt very private and secluded. Gardens are very well maintained and spacious to relaxdine outside. Kitchen is large and very well equipped. Good selection of games / dvds and books. Lodge felt very spacious even with 8 people. We will definitely be returning.

Perfect location for family gathering

This is our second stay in Middle Lodge. It’s perfect for our annual family get together. The property from the outside & the gardens have the wow factor and it has everything you need for a comfortable stay inside. Beds are very comfortable and linen is spotlessly clean. There’s plenty of room so groups can split off & do their own thing. The play room, puzzles, books & dvds are a great addition in case of bad weather. Location is fabulous, tucked away from the main road but walking distance to the beach & local shops. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing a larger property for a stay on the Island.

September stay at Middle Lodge

We (two grandparents, daughter and son-in-law, six-month-old and almost-two-year-old, together with their lovely nanny) had a wonderful stay at Middle Lodge. We are cooks, and the kitchen was the best-equipped of our many rental accommodations over the past decade. Comfortable beds, generous fluffy towels, lovely sitting room and plenty of room to dine inside and out. It was a brief walk to the waterfront, town and municipal swimming pool, with plenty of small playgrounds. We also had a really great meal at Catch, a mere 5 minute from the Lodge. We would recommend it highly. It would have been good if we could have turned down the kitchen lights, since the options seemed to be either off or extremely bright.

What a fabulous gem of a property

We stayed at Middle Lodge for a week. Two adults with a group of 17 year old boys. The proximity to the sandy beach of Ryde and the grass fields were important. The boys could do their own thing and walk into Ryde town for further entertainment. The house was so well done up, clean and welcoming. I would only make two very small comments - a) the downstairs loo button got stuck each time the loo was flushed and needed a good wiggle to stop the water running, and b) a chair in each bedroom to put clothes on would have been appreciated. We will definitely stay at this property again. We come every year to the IOW and this was the best property yet. Best wishes and thanks, Rosie

Great Getaway in Ryde

Middle Lodge is a great getaway for a group or large family. Its really lived up to the description in every way and was very well supplied with everything that you could need to have a great stay. It's cosy, clean, tucked away and exactly what we were looking for a late Autumn getaway. We stayed there with friends for 4 nights and loved the place so much that we changed our plans so that we stayed in 2 nights as it was so lovely. Although the weather wasn't our friend I can imagine it would be great in the Summer too with outdoor seating in the lovely gardens for 8-10. It's location at the edge of Appley park is a bonus too. The red Squirrel as your neighbor is an extra perk. As good was the Island Holiday Company who we booked it through. They were brilliant throughout the process and even sorted our Ferry for us. I know the property features on a number of sites but I would really recommend using this local company. The website is easy as is the communication with them.

Family Fun

We stayed at Middle Lodge 6adults 3 children last week for my significant birthday! The house enabled us to share making special memories. We had researched the house and although it didn’t tick all of our boxes the setting was amazing . Nestled at the edge of ancient woodland (red squirrels in abundance) . It enabled us to as families 2 adults +2 children in basement, another family on 1st floor plus us grandparents . The ground floor with living, dining and kitchen open plan enabled us to enjoy each others company without feeling anyone was missing out . Bedding and towels fabulous. The house is warm , inviting and has everything needed to have an enjoyable holiday . Very well resourced. Instructions on how to flush loo as it doesn’t always stop flushing and instructions re dishwasher which maybe isn’t fit for purpose. The new windows made it cosy and warm . Just a thought about upstairs front bedroom the window opens out the whole width and with bed so close to it a child could get onto the wide sills and fall through . I know there was unfinished work re windows so perhaps they hadn’t fitted the safety catches . Not sure about other upstair windows

Family holiday house

Pluses: great location, lovely garden, well equipped Minuses: damp and musty smelling bedrooms in basement. Silverfish in the bed!! Snug smelled dreadful. Upstairs shower either too hot or too cold. Problems with downstairs loo. Very steep stairs to basement rooms. Damp obvious in crumbling skirting boards. Sofa stylish but very uncomfortable. Could be a fabulous place if issues dealt with.

Great house in perfect location to enjoy the island

We went as a family holiday with 3 small children and our parents and had plenty of space for all. A high chair and travelcot provided made it much easier and the location right next to the park and beach was perfect for spending sunny afternoons down there. It seems to be a great location for exploring the island we did a few trips to local attractions and all were short journeys. Would definitely recommend staying easily walkable to Ryde and a short hop to Tesco for any essentials you might need.

A week in April 2022

Middle Lodge is an ideal house for a family holiday, very near the lovely beach at Ryde and surrounded by a park and a lovely garden. We were 8, 6 adults and 2 children. It is well equipped and the beds are comfortable with good linen and towels. We had a problem with the shower in the upstairs bathroom to which the company responded very quickly. Unfortunately the part required to make it work didn't arrive in time for our stay so we only had one shower between us all. The owner made a concession to us for the loss of this facility. The bath takes quite a while to fill but we were on holiday so no great problem there. All in all it is a great base from which to explore the island.

spacious accommodation in a secluded spot

Lovely spacious property located on the edge of a public park. Views out onto a secluded and well landscaped Garden. Plenty of room to relax and all the amenities available for an enjoyable stay. Plenty of Games, Books, Puzzles, DVD's and Playstation games to keep everyone occupied. Only criticism was that the internal stairs to the bedrooms are quite steep and would not be suitable for all.
