Clean rooms, close to restaurants and the beach. Nice place to stay if you plan on taking your dog. Staff is friendly and helpful. Bathroom is pretty small, but CLEAN and serviceable. We will definitely go back.

We came down for a wedding weekend for a family member. We travel.with our 12 yo Lab Lexi wherever we go. This is place is the most dog friendly place we have stayed at in a long time. The staff is very helpful and will assist in any way they can. The room was fresh and clean. We had a first floor with a patio area that had a view of the pier. Would we stay again? Definitely, next time we head down that way we will stay again.

The street outside the hotel was absolutely packed with literally 200+ young people milling around, homeless guys playing drums on the street, and clouds of smoke… through a random Wednesday afternoon and evening in October. Probably very fun for young people who want to party, but not so much for others.

Place is near the beach though Ocean Beach seem to be too tired & same applies to this hotel. Mission Beach & area is a couple notches better. Will I go there again, perhaps yes but will pick the second or third floor rooms. No elevator btw.

The view from the balcony was amazing! The water should be hotter! Walking distance to pretty much everything in the area! BEACH, Food, Gifts ,Coffee ! We had a great 35th anniversary!

The first room had a view (back and only window) of a broken toilet that the staff put in the back, the second room they moved us too(next day) someone had pealed the paint off by the floor of the shower and the calking on the dry wall were the paint was pealed was falling off. However, the beach was DIRECTLY across the street and that made up for it. Be aware, no staff at front desk from 8 PM to 7:30 AM. Don’t run out of towels or toiletries during that time

I nicknamed this place “The Catfish” because the photos online and the reality were two very different things. The advertised “ocean view” was really just a parking lot with the tiniest sliver of ocean in the distance (and I have pictures to prove it). Unless you book rooms 301, 201, 320, or 220, don’t expect an actual ocean view—every other room looks out at the parking lot. Definitely misleading. That being said, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the rooms—though extremely small—were clean. The beds and pillows were surprisingly comfortable, which made a big difference. The courtyard was truly beautiful, and the location couldn’t be better if you’re looking to be within walking distance of restaurants and bars. On the downside, the walls were paper thin (bring earplugs), and being directly under airplane flight paths means you’ll be hearing jets regularly. The “ocean view” disappointment aside, people-watching from this spot was top-notch. Overall, if you’re booking here for the location, comfort of the bed, and friendly staff, you’ll be happy. But if you’re expecting a relaxing ocean-view getaway like the photos suggest—this one’s a catfish.

Room was clean however bathroom no fan and very small. Electric fireplace was loose on wall, no deadbolt and could see light around door. However excellent location walk to beach and bars and restaurants would absolutely go back and book another balcony room

It’s an older building but maintained. The room was a good size and beds were comfortable. The bathroom was tiny and never really got hot water in the shower, it was warm at best. The balcony and view were incredible. Staff was excellent and friendly. The walkability and location were amazing. Minutes drive from anywhere in San Diego. There is a huge homeless population. They don’t bother you when walking around except for the ones that scream randomly to their imaginary friends. They are sleeping everywhere on the sidewalk, in front of stores, on the beach, etc. All of the stores and restaurants were great in the area. Great food and friendly people. We loved our stay there.

Let’s start with the Pro’s: lots of restaurants and bars to choose from locally. Balcony was nice and had a good view of the beach in the morning. Staff were all very friendly. Parking was accessible and plentiful. Room was smallish but okay, looks to be newly remodeled. Great common viewing deck and courtyard is beautiful. Cons: if you’re looking for upscale, this area ain’t it. This is a party beach and the area smells like marijuana 24/7. Trash cans always overflowing on the beach wall and people selling products on the sidewalk right under the hotel balcony. Also don’t plan on a hot shower…water was luke warm at best even at 5 am before everyone was awake using it. For us, cons outweigh the pros and we won’t stay here again.
