Firstly, I have to thank Catherine so much for her amazing communication. The perfect host, such quick response to all of our questions. The treehouse was comfortable, good bed, soft pillows and the shower with plenty of hot water, a nice deck for eating breakfast.Lovely gardens and such a nice deck overlooking the lake to read and just enjoy the peace after a busy day visiting the villages around the lake..enjoyed the hammock too! Hailing tuktuks to the village of San Juan is easy from the top on the main road, a ten minute ride. Really enjoyed our stay, Juan and Paulina who are the caretakers are very friendly and sweet too. Thank you again Catherine for a lovely stay at your treehouse.
Nice, clean and simple. Beautiful view! Took the Tuk tuk to the city for groceries 5 minutes away. Keep your eyes open for the flags at the entrance or you will miss it. Firecrackers at times but not too late at night.
Thank you Cathy for allowing us to stay at your treehouse! It is a very relaxing atmosphere. The house was clean and the grounds were kept up very nice as well. The access to the lake is a big plus. It was a great experience for my wife and I! I would definitely recommend it!
The mark of any good accomodation, restaurant, business or product is whether you would purchase it again. For this property l would rent the treehouse again without hesitation. Such a calm, relaxed, comfortable place to stay and enjoy Lago de Atitilan. The scenery from the deck was so calming while enjoying your coffee in the morning. Because l reside in Hawaii, l was treated to some beautiful acoustic music from the islands that set the mood perfectly. The staff was so heartwarming, friendly, and accomodating, l didnt want to leave.
The bed and pillows very comfortable, towels clean and new, the treehouse was spotless and the grounds manicured. Bottled water was provided. Outstanding value!
My overall experience was fabulous. The house is on the Northwest part of Lake Atitlan and is a bit of an adventure to get to. I started in Panajachel and took the public Water-Taxi (also available is renting a public speed boat for about $40 for transport from Panajachel). The house is close to a public dock. Get off at the public dock and walk up to the main street. Finding the house from the street is a bit tricky, but the host has an on-site caretaker which was nice. The Caretaker gives more security and also can help with any local questions.
The properties on either side have coffee trees and local crops such as corn. The Lake has local fishermen in rustic boats (REALLY rustic) and a wonderful view of several volcanos and other lake cities such as San Juan. The view at night is especially interesting. Once the locals go to bed and stop with the fireworks (weekend hobby I guess), the loudest noises I heard were the owls hooting, and leaves falling on the roof- VERY quiet!
There are many Tuk-Tuks (small motor-taxi) on the public street, and for about 20Q ($3) you can get a ride into San Juan where there are many things to do- restaurants, shopping, native fabricator displays, etc.
If you want to get away from it all, start here!
