Avania is a wonderful place to stay. My fiancee and I did a day trip to Santa Barbara and just needed something affordable to crash out for the night and Avania was that and more! The rooms are a little outdated but everything is nice and clean inside. Our room had a nice lil patio outside to enjoy the warm weather. We didn't get to check out the pool but it was fairly small by the looks of it. The inn is in a very convenient location just waking distance to the beach and good restaurants. Our check in was handled by Oswaldo and he made it so easy! Breakfast was your regular hotel food but good nonetheless. The breakfast patron Faustina did an amazing job ensuring everything was available to consume. Jake handled our check out and he was pleasant and friendly. We had asked him for good hiking trails and he pointed out a few and even provided us with extra water bottles for our trek. All in all... Avania is a great plant to stay if you're visiting or passing through Santa Barbara. 5 stars in my opinion

A decent hotel, nothing extraordinary. Very pricey, may be because it was the long weekend. The place is clean, easy to get to, has reasonable parking, and decent breakfast. Rooms are on the smaller side, showerhead gave water out in a trickle, and was warm water at the highest setting of the lever. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a wall which is nice. No great views - I asked Orbitz for oceanview hotels and this came up but the ocean is about two blocks away. I saw families with kids. Really sparse in many ways (no body lotion), soap dispensers rather than small bars (which I am okay with), and no cleaning service even when we asked for the room to be cleaned. Overall, not worth more than $250 per night.
