Wow pretty much sums up our stay at Sunlit Hills. Beautiful property located southeast of town. The house was decorated with lovely artwork inside, and the outside was basically a sculpture garden on 2-3 acres. It was fun to wander all over the property looking at the amazing collection of sculptures.
While the artwork was outstanding, for us, the best part of staying at Sunlit Hills were the AMAZING VIEWS and star-gazing in the hot tub at night. The Milky Way was clearly visible every night, and we saw 10 meteors in one evening. The down side, it took forever to get anywhere because you always had to drive through the center of town. If we visit Santa Fe again, we will stay on the north side of town close to the bypass.
As for escaping the Texas heat to play golf in cooler weather, the temps weren't cooler than Dallas in early Sept. We'll probably head back to Ruidoso next year. The golf courses were beautiful though. We played Black Mesa, Towa (Buffalo Thunder), and Cochiti. Black Mesa was well-maintained, but husband said the fairways were a little tight/skinny. Towa was having watering issues, so not much fun there. Cochiti was our favorite!!! Stunning views, a well-maintained course, friendly people, and even though they were super busy, play hardly slowed down. We loved every minute!
