The bay is directly in the backyard where you can see the sun set each evening from the house. There is a small beach that is sandy during low tide. If you want to wade in the bay, wear water shoes because there is glass that washes in from the bay. Mosquitoes are a problem, but it isn't just here. That's just the Eastern Shore in summer. If it is windy they aren't too bad if you use bug spray. But we didn't spend much time outside and didn't use the fire pit area, although it looked lovely. The house is as pictured. The king sized bed is a sleep number bed which took some getting used to for us. The bunk beds are double bed sized. The living room had a very comfortable sofa and a table with 6 chairs so there was plenty of room for us. The house could use a few more kitchen items like baking sheets, a pizza cutter, and some more glasses. We didn't try the water and just bought bottled water as advised in the listing.Saxis is peaceful and we enjoyed seeing the wading birds (and one evening a fox!) as we drove past the marsh coming in and out. Chincoteague is about 40 min away but the drive is easy.
We had a wonderful 4 days stay. The location is peaceful and quiet with beautiful views. The house was clean and the host communicated well. Would definetly stay again.
The property is beautiful and it was so nice to be so close to the water. Sunset view and fire pit out back were fun bonuses. Everything went smoothly and as expected. We enjoyed our stay, thank you!
We came here with my 3 grandsons to watch the NASA launch. There were 7 of us total. We had a hard time finding the place because the address numbers were painted the same color as the rail they were attached to. The house looked a little run-down from the outside, but the inside was beautiful, clean, and spacious. The boys loved the backyard and the waterfront. The fire ring with provided firewood added a great time for relaxing and cooking smores. The beds were comfortable and handled our crew with no problem. This location is out in the country, and access to restaurants on a Monday evening is limited. The outdoor furniture needed to be cleaned before we could sit on it which included de-frogging the cushions. The coffee pot is small but the coffee and creamer were provided. The washer is huge and handles all the sheets in one load. The water tastes funny so we would recommend bringing your own. The host was very accommodating allowing us a one-day rental. It worked great for our stay and if we return to the area again we will most likely stay there again.
Very nice well kept home on Saxis Island. Disappointed in the âbeachâ during high tide there isnât a beach and low tide allowed about 15 feet of beach. We didnât find any see glass but did find some shells. The property provided two bicycles which were great for exploring the island and two kayaks which were also fun. Overall we had a very enjoyable time.
We enjoyed our time there, the house is great for the most part. Check in was easy and we didnât have any issues finding it. Communication with the host was timely and great. Our only issues were the amenities. Luckily, we had packed a lot of what we needed for cooking but the coffee pot was only a 5 cup pot. For a family of coffee drinkers this meant we had to brew 4 or 5 pots every day. A larger coffee pot would be nice. The kitchen trash can was the size of one for the bathroom which meant we just had to put a bag on the floor instead of using a trash can. The king size sleep number bed is not comfortable no matter what number you put it on. Otherwise everything was great. We would probably book the house again but the sleep number bed and the coffee pot might be a reason to look at different places to stay. Overall though it was great.
The house is beautiful and very clean, not as isolated as we thought based on listing. View amazing, needed lots of bug spray- but were notified of this by owner ahead of time, so it was all good.
Delightful little place for a getaway. Truly uncrowded ...we sat on the beach all day, reading and other than the neighbor going for a beach walk, saw no one. So if you're looking for a Ocean City experience, this is not the place for you!!
This house is indeed a sanctuary with a lovely back patio looking out on the Chesapeake Bay. This house also needs some upgrades. There are cute signs about how fun it is to drink wine - but no corkscrew to be found anywhere in the house. This is a real problem because the town is so small it doesn't have a store. Also - the ice trays in the freezer were empty so, no ice. And no store where you can buy ice - or a corkscrew. When you pull on a drawer in the bathroom, the knob comes off so getting the draw open takes an effort. The table on the beautiful back porch has only two chairs. The only restaurant in town is terrible. Don't go. Bring your own food (and other provisions). It's really a lovely location, though.
The CO2 meter went off twice once in the middle of the night and the day. The beach is trashy and not what you imagine a beach yk be. And the matress was super hard.
We were a family of six, 4 adults and 2 littles 5 and 7. The private beach was perfect for them..gentle and warm water. The owner warned us that being summer bugs were out. We expected that and brought plenty of bug spray. We should have brought many more cans. The locals did confirm itâs hit or miss with the bugs we just happen to have many rainy days during our week and are sure thatâs why they were so bad. All in all the deck is wonderful to sit on and enjoy beverages. We didnât use the fire pit nor grill but did many meals and a fancy tea party for my granddaughters birthday. The house is very clean and kudos to the housekeeper for bringing extra towels literally immediately. The king bed is a sleep number which was a huge hit with us as thatâs what we have at home. Plenty of room to spread out, lots of games on the rainy days and if you enjoy beach combing your in luck! TONS of sea glass everywhere you look! Like finding sea treasure! The owners were awesome to work with, the neighbors couldnât be any better and so friendly. We felt safe and secure as well. The town is quiet, not really any businesses open but a sweet little ice cream shop and the owner was a doll! I would totally skip captain Eâs restaurant. It was terrible and we sent back Two of our meals. Expensive for literally terrible food. This is no reflection on this beautiful home nor the kind locals but drive back to pocomoke to dons seafood and chicken house and get excellent food. Highly recommend this home
Perfect area to spend some time in a kayak or sunning on the small, private beach directly behind the house. Our toddler had a blast in the house and running around by the water collecting sea glass.
The property was absolutely lovely, and well equipped to entertain a group for a weekend away. The extra amenities were greatly appreciated (bikes, grill, kayak) and the neighbors were incredibly friendly. We highly recommend for a weekend getaway from the city!
