Had everything we needed. Not sure if pool is heated, it was very chilly. We didn't use fire pit because of county burn advisory. Good location, 20-30 min from everything. Hot water tank not large enough to fill massive Jacuzzi tub above the jets. Could have been cleaned better (chips in sofa, dirty upholstery, and fans) Beds were all clean and comfortable.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again, next time for longer! The house was clean and well appointed and the kids really enjoyed the pool. We also loved the location - peaceful and close to beautiful Acadia National Park.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this house. The pool was nice to have however, the chlorine was very strong and irritated everyoneâs skin and eyes afterwards. The bottom has been redone very well however, the top floor needs to be redone, especially the bathroom. We felt like we were going to fall through the shower floor.
The first floor has been remodeled and has up-to-date appliances. The second floor has spacious bedrooms. The bathroom is a little small. We enjoyed having the indoor pool and fire pit.The owner was quick to respond to emails.
Home was perfect for our extended family of 9. It is quiet, spacious, and very accommodating. Cooked fresh lobster every night we ate at the house and not out. Great little, non-touristy lobster pound called Hodgdon's Seafood, only minutes from the house. Everything we needed to make us feel at home is here. We loved that we could reach most places on our to-do list within half an hour. Although, we did travel 2.5 hours to white water raft on the Kennebec. So worth the trip! We also recommend the Giant Slide Trail if you are up for a challenge. We really canât complain about anything concerning the house, our communication with Shelley, or the accuracy of its listing.
Had an amazing time overall! If I'm nitpicking (which I am), securing the dishwasher so it doesn't tip slightly when loading would be good (was not a hazard). The firepit was relaxing and the indoor pool was as massive and fun as the pictures imply. We were very close to Acadia for our trip, and within walking distance of that great street-side Lobster place.Check in was super easy!
Fantastic house on a nice secluded side of the island. House was the perfect home base for all Acadia activities. The pool after a long day was a great way to wind down.
We enjoyed our stay overall. The main floor is beautiful and looks receently remodeld. The upper floor is like stepping back in time several decades. It definitely could use an update, but it did not detract from our stay. The pool was nice to have, but ran colder than we expected. The owner did stop by to increase the temp, but it didn't stay above 78 most of our stay, so a little too cold for the adults in our group. The teenagers all enjoyed it. The highlight was the jetted tub. Its large enough to comfortably fit two adults and was awesome to relax in at the end of the day. Overall would recommend this place for a family.
We had three generations in the home. All enjoyed the stay. Kids loved the pool. Being on the âquietâ side of the island was a nice reprieve from the bustle of the east side. Loved being part of the woods.
In summary: We would not stay here again at the price we paid (over $2,000 for 3 nights, including nightly rate plus host fee, service fee, and taxes).
This is of course just our experience/opinion. Your experience may vary.
What we liked: Indoor pool, black-out curtains in bedrooms (except one window you're not allowed to touch that has wood blinds), good mattresses, nice location.
What was concerning/we did didn't like: Overall, the place had a veneer of update/reno on the main floor, but so many flaws when you live there for a few days. The dishwasher frame comes out of the counter when you're loading the drawers. There is no lint trap in the dryer, so there's a ton of old lint stuck to the dryer door (and feels like a fire hazard??). The sensor on the dryer does not work (thought a load was dry after less than 5 minutes), but you can used the timed dry no problem. There was a light out in the bathroom. Some dishes in the cabinets were dirty (not the host's fault necessarily). The cleaner arrived at 10:50am on our check-out day telling us check-out was at 10am, although the listing and all of my VRBO confirmations/communications listed 11am. My husband had to fix a toilet that was continuously running.
Bottom line, it just didn't seem like it was worth what we paid for it. Oh well.
A wonderful location for a trip of 5 women. We leveraged all of the amenitiesâyoga on the deck, swimming after our hikes, and fires by the pot to end the day.
The property was brilliant but we couldnât find the towels but did eventually in the tumble dryer and we couldnât find the dishes and cutlery but again found them in the dishwasher. But the property and amenities were fantastic
The home location was beautiful for a family vacation and the kids had a wonderful time swimming after long days of hiking. The home was overall nice but could use a bit more updating and landscape attention.
The house was everything we wanted plus the indoor pool. It was perfect for our trip. We were able to easily prepare meals in the kitchen and had a great time swimming .
Great placeâŠvery clean. We had a bat in the house when we came home from hiking on the second night that we stayed there. Before we got it out (alive) I called Ricky and left a message that we have a bat in his house but no return message or call or text. Not that he could really do anything about it but I thought he should know.
We thoroughly enjoyed this house. It was in a quiet, rural area. The house and view were beautiful. We enjoyed the large beautiful indoor pool and hot tub. Perfect to sit outside on the large deck or enjoy a bon fire.
The house was nice and big for our group of 7. The downstairs was nicely remodeled, but the upstairs, while very clean, felt like you were stepping into another era, but it worked. The weather was comfortable during our stay so we didn't mind the fans and open windows at all. However, more windows needed screens or screens that did not have holes in them. We used the pool a little but for the crowd we had, it was a bit cold and could have been a few degrees warmer to be able to really enjoy it.
We loved the location and the out of the way feel. Almost every day we saw deer and a family of turkeys around the house. We loved the close little lobster place just around the corner that you are able to walk to. It was so convenient and an excellent place to eat.
The only negatives we would give would be the kitchen could use some better cooking utensils, can opener (which barely worked) and knives. The stove has some minor issues but we got it to work okay. We did need to wash one of the bed coverings when we arrived but otherwise everything was very clean.
We would recommend this location and would go back if we visit Maine again.
Our family was very disappointed in this site! First we had no air conditioning which was not mentioned in the listing! Next I was assured by the host that the pool temperature was 84 degrees upon arriving it was not. I had to call the host and she sent a plumber out two days later. It never did get warm but kids can make due! It also said in listing it had a hot tub which is just a spa tub in bathroom. The upstairs is very old!!!! Spiders everywhere and the bathroom very unsafe! Shower floor sunk every time we stepped into it. Dirty carpet on floor and not all the sheets were clean so we had to launder them. Stove oven took 45 minutes to warm and being a gas stove we were quite leery of it. They offer a grill to use but when we went to grill it was out of gas. Yes we could have got some more but town was 30 minutes away! Pictures are very misleading and for this price, way too expensive! Bunkbed room is no larger than a closet and with no window so extremely hot! Double bedroom with a trundle has people walking through to go to pool! It was a bad experience and I hope the host will make some major improvements!
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The main floor is nicely renovated. The kitchen is spacious, but very limited in cooking/dining supplies and equipment. Ample fans for warmer weather. Many of the windows were difficult to open/close. The upstairs is also spacious, but quite dated, and could use some attention (ie ripped linens, missing window screens). The kids adored the pool! We loved the quiet of the home and the area.
The property was not as advertised. It was not very clean, especially in the corners. The upstairs is rundown with second floor bath that has spongy floors in the shower. The "bunk bedroom" is the size of a jail cell with no ventilation since the windows in that room have no screen. The property does not have A/C which means it can be quite hot upstairs during July. The indoor pool area is very nice but you need to walk through a bedroom to access the pool room from the inside. We could see a lot of wildlife from the property, including wild turkeys.
