The house was exactly as pictured. It was clean, modern, and spacious for our group. The beds were set up to accommodate our group dynamics (couples versus singles) and extra pillows provided. The kitchen was well stocked for meals, and the hot tub and sauna were a great addition for the evenings. The biggest perk was the location in regard to the Golden Circle sights. We were able to visit everything in the area with only a short drive and then Selfoss was nearby for meals and the grocery store. The hosts were thoughtful and left detailed instructions for everything. I would highly recommend this home for your Iceland adventure.
A great home base for my familyâs trip to Iceland, this property had great proximity to the Golden Circle. We saw a number of sites, did some fantastic hikes, visited the Secret Lagoon, and it was nice to have a home base to come back to each evening. We ate out a good bit, but also made coffee/breakfast at the home each morning and cooked a few other meals at the cabin as well. Everyone slept well, and we enjoyed the property immensely. Great communication with the owners, who provided some fantastic restaurant recommendations. Great experience! One of my siblings already wants to book a return trip to Iceland and plans on staying at Fensalir again!
Wonderful stay in a remote/yet accessible area. We loved the layout and style of the cabin, modern and cozy. We had a couple of questions when we arrived and were challenged getting in touch with the owners, but Iâm assuming it was user error as they had been responsive previously. Once we got in touch, everything was addressed immediately. They are building another cabin across the road and it looks gorgeous. Looking forward to staying there if we ever return to Iceland- which exceeded expeditions BTW. Overall, a great value for location, space, style and comfort. Thank you!!
Our family of 7 adults was well accommodated here for our 6 day trip to explore Iceland. We had plenty of room for all and enjoyed our stay. We were able to eat breakfast at the cabin everyday and then spent the rest of the day out exploring different areas. The cabin was the perfect location for our day trips to Reykjavik, Vik, The Secret Lagoon, and the Golden Circle. The small city of Selfoss is close enough to the cabin to get all the essentials like morning coffee, groceries, dinner out and even a little shopping. It was easy to create some great family memories in Iceland.
Our group of 6, recently visited Iceland and stayed at the Fensalir cabin for three days. We had a great time visiting Iceland and staying in Selfoss. The location is a perfect home base for seeing the south coast, golden circle, blue lagoon and Reykjavik. The cabin is spacious with two living spaces (includes a separate cabin), hot tub and sauna. The directions to the cabin are easy to follow. We would highly recommend staying at the Fensalir cabin.
Great Location and Cabin for Iceland's Golden Circle
My family and I really enjoyed staying at the cabin as it served as our central location to see all of the main attractions of Iceland's Golden Circle. We never had to travel more than 40min to any location. The cabin also came fully equipped and really made our adventure fun and easy.
I canât imagine a better place to stay. It was close to everything in the Golden Circle. The house was large and nicely decorated. It had room for everyone including a guest house, Sauna and hot tub. The kitchen is well equipped. It is a newer community with construction of newer homes being built which did disrupt our water for a day and of course the owners couldnât do anything about this, it just would have been nice if we knew ahead of time to plan appropriately. The only reason for the 4 star vs 5 star was due to the house not being as clean as I expected. Also not all the beds were not made and the weather stripping was bad on the door to the guest house. Luckily my husband was able to adjust it enough to get the door closed all the way. Also there was no lock on this door which made me uneasy to leave each day with our belongings in there. Otherwise a great place for families. I would recommend.
It was a wonderful place to stay and the hosts were awesome. Would highly recommend it. Beautiful views and the sauna and hot tub were a perfect addition.
My husband and I came to Iceland with my parents for a family vacation. We rented Fensalir cabin for 4 nights and it was the perfect spot for us to have our own space while also spending quality time together. The house was very clean, the views were incredible, and the sauna and hot tub were an added bonus. We saw the northern lights one night when the skies were clear! We all said we would absolutely recommend Fensalir cabin to friends and family who plan to travel to Iceland in the future!
The Cabin is perfect to relax and get in touch with the nature of Iceland. Wellness with Sauna and Whirlpool with a fantastic view. 2 hours by car from the airport, 1 hour drive to tourist spots like Geysir and waterfalls. We had a fantastic stay and lifetime experience.
Loved the place! Super great location and setup. I was disappointed not all the bed had sheets and they forgot to give us a crib. Owner was quick to fix it. The gate is annoying, but it is an all of Iceland thing
The cabin was perfect for our family of 8! We took advantage of the hot tub and sauna. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the views were beautiful.
Beautiful house, great for Northern Light viewing!
The house was perfect for our family of 6 and the location is very convenient to do things in the south. The location is the best for watching the Northern Lights, no need to drive anywhere!
Cabin lived up to our high expectations. Everything was very clean. We didn't use the hot tub but the sauna was lovely. Thanks so much for your helpful information on local sights and restaurants.
Really enjoyed the size, location and hot tub/sauna. Kitchen is well stocked.
There is a gate to the community, so make sure you access the check in instructions as soon as they are available. We could not get the instructions open when we arrived at the gate, but there was an open construction road that allowed U.S. to get to the cabin.
The cabin is in a little community, but is fairly private. There is a power station or something down the road that put off some light pollution. Overall, would recommend.
The cabin was the perfect base to explore the southern part of Iceland. We were a family of 5 adults, the cabin gave us plenty of space. The location is remote, perfect for seeing the Northern Lights, but close to Selfoss and the Golden Circle sights. It was extremely well equipped with the bonus of the hot-tub and sauna. It is even better than the photos.
The property was absolutely perfect for my group. We had great weather and viewed the northern lights 6 of 7 nights while at the property. Which was awesome saved me from driving to other locations yes the landscape did not change but the views were still amazing. I would absolutely stay here again if I return to Iceland. Yes it is a bit of a drive to Reykajavik but the location is great for touring the south coast, golden circle, and areas around the national park.
Lovely Cabin that is well-kept, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need. The sauna and hot tub are additional features that make this house unique. We had a great time and would definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful stay at this cozy and clean cabin, perfectly situated near many of Iceland's stunning natural attractions. The owner had thoughtfully prepared an excellent manual that answered all our questions, and he was always easy to reach and quick to respond to any requests. Even during a big storm, the house kept us warm and comfortable. We couldnât have asked for a better place to stay during our visit to Iceland!
The Fensalir Cabin was the perfect place for our "home base" As an adult family of 6, it had the right amount of together and alone space. The kitchen was well equipped and bedrooms and baths stocked. The hot tub and sauna were clean and comfortable after long days of exploring the Iceland. Our host Erlingur was helpful with ideas of what Iceland has to offer along with his communication was excellent. This location is perfect for what site we wanted to see as we were only here for 7 days.
We primarily stayed in the southern portion of Iceland (as far east as Vik) and Reykjavik. Visited Westman Island for a day. We were able to see the puffins and hike the countryside/volcanos. We hiked to the Reykjadalur hot spring thermal river and saw all the familiar waterfalls, Geysir, Kerid Crater and Blue Lagoon. We took an excursion our to the Katla Glacier & Ice Caves and did snorkeling in ice cold water in Silfra. Baked rye bread in Laugarvatin. All of these excursions are a must!
We found amazing restaurants during our stay. The most unique and a great experience is the tomato farm. VĂnstofa Friðheima - Winebar & Bistro. Try to make a reservation at at Friðheimar. Truly a unique place.
We will be back someday to explore more of this sensational island. I highly recommend staying at the Fensalir Cabin. Thank you for your hospitality.
This is a great property in a perfect location. Quiet and remote but an easy drive to the golden circle and Selfoss Town. The hot tub was great and the accommodations were very nice.
This is a beautiful, well appointed cabin in close proximity to the Golden Circle and national park. The hot tub and sauna are extras that set this property apart. We had a lovely stay here.
