This hotel was not a good value for 5 people (almost $400 CAD including breakfast).
First off, I was not aware that the traditional Japanese room only had a toilet but no shower. I had to use (the very small for ladies) public bath. I believe the men's side is much bigger.
Second, when driving to the hotel, I was greeted by a completely dark abandoned section of the hotel, along with a very dark hallway that leads to it when I walked in from 6F, like straight out of a horror movie. The rest of the hotel was very dark inside with lots of dark creepy rooms and hallways.
There were only 2 vending machines: 1 for alcoholic drinks on 6F, and 1 on 1F for "soft drinks" but with very limited selection. There was nothing else near the hotel so beware. There was no shop or snack counter inside.
Lastly, I found the traditional Japanese breakfast very sub-standard; the ones from JPY500 Yayoi-Ken are much better, for perspective.
Having said that, the hotel seemed clean (but smells musty which I don't mind), the surroundings are nice, and the futons are thick and well padded.
