I was sent the wrong code to get inside the house and then the third day there I was locked out again because the batteries for the door were dying. Both issues were taken care of in a timely matter and Jen is quick to respond. I loved the house and it’s in a great location! Would definitely stay there again!

First time to Top Sail

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect and we loved being steps from the beach. So easy to go in and out through the day. The showers outside were great to have. The chairs on the deck were perfect. The house slept all 8 of us comfortably. Our only issue was the cleanliness of the house when we first arrived, but I messaged the host and she responded immediately and sent a cleaning crew out within an hour to make our stay more comfortable. I love that there is no carpet and the leather sofa was comfortable for us to watch tv at night. I would recommend this house and specifically this host!

Family Friendly and perfect beach access

Stayed here with my family and another family. It was perfect with 2 master suites and a bunk room. The beach is very family friendly and not super crowded. The property was clean, but the kitchen could have been better stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc.

Family Vacation 2022

Great house for our family and dog. Plenty of space, well stocked kitchen. Owner very responsive with questions. The only downside is that it is next to public access to beach. Overall is a great place, would definitely recommend.

The Beauty of Topsail

Soft sand and warm ocean waters right at your door! Total bliss! Beautiful, beachy and spacious home with all the comforts and everything you need to just plop and delve into vacation mode. Location is perfect! A wonderfully relaxing and restorative time for both us and our dogs! Loved it!

Great Location, Condo needs a little more love

The positives: location. The condo is right on the beach. The porch is lovely and there are plastic adirondack chairs to sit on. There felt like plenty of privacy on the porch which was very nice. The owner provided a plastic kiddie pool and beach toys. There is a washer and dryer that work. The kitchen was clean. The counters in the bathrooms look like they are new and the cabinets look nice. The toilets look recently replaced. The couch was old and worn but comfy. The internet worked. Dogs are allowed, which is one of the reasons we chose the place. Also, the owner was very responsive both before and during our stay regarding all questions and concerns. The negatives: Both showers had some black mold. A door handle was falling out of a bedroom door. The carpet, while technically clean, is very worn and stained throughout the upstairs; it really takes away from a clean feel. Several lights in the halls and stairway were not working properly. Some of the older furniture , including the kitchen table, had a layer of grime. A quick power wash or good scrub down would really make a difference. The trash can in the master was rusty and deformed. We could not find a broom to sweep up sand inside the unit. There was a vacuum that worked and we thought it could pick up the sand, but we could not get it to pick up the sand. None of these items make a real negative impression on their own, but collectively it made the place feel unloved. This was a newer rental listing and we just felt like a lot of small details were overlooked. The biggest problem for us were finding roaches and other bugs upstairs and down. We could not leave any food out and saw an unusually high amount of bugs everyday during our stay. We did contact the owner who offered to send someone to replace the light bulbs, remove the broken glass, and spray for bugs. Again, she did respond very quickly. We elected for the light bulb replacement, but passed on the other two. We had a dog and small child with us and simply did not want to deal with the bug treatment. The owner mentioned that the condo was already under a treatment plan and now realized there was still some work to do. We understand that these things can happen, but it did take away from a 5 star experience. This condo does have 5 star potential, but it simply did not reach that stage during our visit.

Great beachfront vacation

We arrived at this beachfront home and were blown away by the view of the turquoise water. It was very clean and well appointed. The location on the island is nice and we will be looking forward to returning next season. Jennifer manages her property well and is very responsive.

Great location, disappointingly dirty

The good: Location is great. About 150-200 feet to the water. What wasn’t clear to me is the unit is a middle unit in a quad. Kitchen is small but adequate. Master bed and bath are also small. Two bedrooms on third floor are great for kids. Living/dining room is very large in comparison. Back deck is nice in the evenings after the sun moves past the house. Ample parking for 2 vehicles. The bad: The house was not clean. The owner offered to send the cleaning crew back but we declined. We cleaned the kitchen ourselves. As compensation they offered to cover a dinner out which we also declined. Unfortunately VRBO will not allow photos with reviews but the front of the dishwasher was so dirty you could clearly see a brown handprint on the white cloth after wiping it down. Once we started cleaning in the kitchen we quickly began to see gnats and other small bugs. The gnats were bad enough that when we came in from lunch on our first day with some sweet tea and set the cup down they quickly swarmed the cup. We neded up making gnat traps and during the week we counted over 30 that we killed. There were also bugs in several of the drawers/cabinets and appeared on the counter during the night. All of the food packages we opened had to go into the refrigerator to keep the bugs out, and even though we could have brought food home we chose to dispose of it to prevent bringing bugs back to our house. Other issues we noted: Sand everywhere (normal for a beach house?) like floor, beds, showers Black mildew or mold in shower Food and sand under glass on table Smell in master bedroom Doesn’t appear to have been dusted in a while Several lights out Sliding door tracks are full of dirt Ceiling fans haven’t been touched in a very long time We paid several hundred dollars (cleaning fee, pet fee, property damage insurance) to clean the house and guarantee we wouldn’t burn it to the ground I don’t feel we got the value we expected. Our dogs are small and leave no trace behind. We made more of an effort to clean the house than the cleaning crew. The cleanest thing in the house was the inside of the microwave. Considering the CDC recommendations for COVID-19 cleaning I am really not sure why the house would be so dirty. It was nice to get away but we will not go back to this property. If this has been our first VRBO rental we probably wouldn’t use the service again. We shouldn’t walk into a rental property and have to clean it to feel comfortable.
