Great stay!

We had a wonderful stay. It was perfect for our family and just a few steps to the beach makes it a wonderful location. While it may not have all the upgraded amenities that your upscale hotels offer, the nostalgia of this place was what we enjoyed for the price during Spring Break. Our family doesn't need fancy to have a great time. It was perfect. It had a kitchenette, bathroom and 2 bedrooms with plenty of space to relax. We hope we are able to stay here again.

Check your bedding!

At first arrival the room seemed "clean" - hard to say as it is so worn down. We spent the evening out and upon returning I was getting ready for bed. when I pulled the bedspread off the bed - the blanket was covered in long black hair on both sides. There were several strands on both sides. It was 10:30 PM so I just rolled up the blanket and took it to the front desk. I complained to the woman at the desk (ironically with long black hair). She said, "And you want what?". That's correct. No apology. No offer to have the bed remade. Nothing. I said a "clean blanket to start". She looked surprised and I was put off - overly probably because I was tired. So I added, "and to talk to someone about some kind of reimbursement". She radioed someone and brought me a blanket. I couldn't hear what was said, but she said to me, "You can talk to someone at checkout." Well, we checked out at 6:30 am and it was the same woman. We like quirky places to stay - but clean is a necessity. There were holes in the curtain, the rooms were very small and the lights were so bright. Not restful or relaxing. The rooms are non-smoking but there are ashtrays on all the tables outside the rooms so people are smoking right outside your door. I wouldn't call in a no-smoking property. The team at check-in was very nice and the motel is steps from the beach.

Checked in with Ashley and she was the best let us borrow her personal chairs to view the sunset because the stores were closing very awesome everything at the hotel was as expected.

Positives: location to the beach is excellent; room decor is nicely done; front office staff was nice; they did clean the room Challenges: room smelled strongly of bleach; the insulation was older so not as strong and the floor felt damp, probably due to humidity; the towels were rough and fairly thin, and we only had 1 bath towel but didn’t realize it until after we were back from a concert later at night; parking is tight but that’s to be expected in the St. Augustine area.

Our favorite retro place to stay

When we visit St Augustine we love staying at Magic Beach 🏖️ . Ashley & the staff work hard & always are very welcoming. The location is the best, just steps to the beach. You can walk to everything at this side of Vilano Beach. The room is always clean & comfortable. We love that it is pet friendly.

Great location. You can walk out your door and be on the beach in two minutes. The room had no heater except for a space heater. It was very chilly when we were there. I've never seen a hotel/motel with no real heater.

Bed good, rest was yuck!

It is a kitschy little place. I booked 2 rooms for 5 family members. I paid for 2 king bed rooms as stated on Hotels.com. when we got there. we got 2 very small rooms only one had a one small window. King and a futon and a single bed under an outside stair well. Pool was small, ice cold and disgusting. At $240 a room it was a bit of a rip off. Only plus was a semi comfortable bed.

If you have a small kitchen you should provide soap, dish clothes, paper towels. One wash cloth in bathroom is not enough!!! Extra box of Kleenex is needed. Why have a phone in the room that doesn’t work and we were not told that! It needs a lot of work in the unit. The woman that checked us in was very concerned about the internet that we were not able to get access to and she did contact someone to get it back. Thank you to her.

This is a very old property and has virtually no amenities. It is well maintained and clean. It is right by the beach which is nice. It seemed to be safe. The staff were nice and friendly. The Wi-Fi was almost useless, the television had no premium channels and actually just a few channels anyway. It was definitely worth the price if you want something by the beach that is cost effective and not fancy.
