The inn is next to the river ouse in a beautiful area and, by car, is 5 minutes from St. Ives, a very interesting town to visit. To visit Cambridge you can go via various little villages through the countryside avoiding the very crowded A14 - about 40 mins. The room we had was quite small though comfortable with all the usual services. I would recommend asking for a large room on the side away from the kitchen to avoid the noise of the kitchen fan. Breakfast is very good and the staff are very friendly.
The accommodation was compact & OK. The room is above the function room which has events on in an evening, on our stay there was a function with loud music & heavy base that stopped at 11pm. We were not told of the function & would have returned back later if had known. The kitchen extracter fan came on at 8am which disruppted our sleep. The staff & food were excellent
Overall the hotel met our needs, however:
- we arrived at around 7.30pm to be told the restaurant was closed for refurb. Tbh we can live with that but it would have been nice to know in advance.
- On going to the room, it hadn't been remade from the previous visitor. This was corrected by the person checking us in, whilst we were out for a meal.
Non of the above would stop us visiting again as it is a lovely old place in a lovely location.
