It's an older building close to St. Louis University. We had our dog with us, so it was nice to walk a short distance and take walks on the campus, which is lovely and grassy. Not the greatest part of the city, but we felt relatively safe. Of course, we did not venture out alone. It was a good location for the things we wanted to do. The apt. was clean; however, could have used more towels, toilet paper and pillow cases for the extra pillows. The owner did not check in with us to determine if all was well during our stay. No checkout instructions either. The photos make it look better than it is.
I chase storms for a living and end up staying long term, finding a great host can be difficult. Finding one that can accommodate and save the day like Heather has is near impossible! She was able to get me into another room when the initial booking had the roof blow off of it!. Very communicative and a great stay, thank you for your efforts.
"Elegant" is a stretch. This place is a great location. The heat stayed on and the water was hot and water pressure was great.
The "complete renovation" is a "complete hack job" do not walk bear footed the loose "wood" flooring will pinch and bite you. Complete renovation it is not. (Home Depot made some money though) I have the pictures to prove it. A paint layer over 40 years of other paint is not a renovation.
The floors are sloped and incomplete. The walls are sterile and cracked. The doors "reluctantly" close. The ceilings are stained and aged.
The "wood" floors are laminated floors and do not match or stay snapped together.
Quirky and well positioned is a better description. We had our needs met, it stayed warm enough not to leave but we would never give it the term elegant.
The adjacent property constantly smelled of smoke.
Just beware of what you are to get. The bathroom is a joke and we are small individuals.
Buyer beware.
Im going to try to give an honest opinion of this stay. Overall i did give it 5 stars but there are a few minor things that I think need fixed or changed. First off this is a second floor unit so there are a few steps to navagate.
the unit was very clean and comfortable.
I would stay again if i were in the area.
That being said the bathroom needs some upgrades. A bowed shower rod and better shower liner would be awesome. it would give more room in the shower and you would not feel like the plastic shower curtain wasn't atacking you.
also a few comand hooks in the bathroom and maybe the bedroom closet would be nice.
it is an older house i ger it but the Bathroom and the weekest part of this unit.
the word my wife used was awkward set up.
but we made it work.
also some of the flooring is loose and needs tended to.
i hope this review helps it meant to be constructive for the owner.
overall we were happy and the price was right.
We stayed here because my husband had to be in the hospital at Barnes Jewish for a week and I needed something close by. The house is adorable, well decorated, CLEAN, and had all the ammenities I needed for my stay. The house is on a quiet dead-end street, but right off two main roads. Just a mile to the Botanical Gardens, not much farther to the hill for some amazing Italian food, and 4 minutes to the hospital. Will recommend to others and will stay here again!
New to travel nursing and this property was a great spot before my other place was ready. Was close and convenient to the hospital I was working. Super easy to get a hold of manager. Neighborhood was quite.
