We knew this was an older building, but were surprised by the lack of upkeep. The brick walkway is wavy/bumpy and impossible for a rolling suitcase. The outside stairs were uneven; the height of the first step was about a third of the height of the last step and had no railing. A safety concern for seniors, children, or those with disabilities. The house felt like no one had been in it for a while. There were cobwebs and dust bunnies in most corners. There were random grocery items in the fridge (a package of chicken and eggs). The pictures show the updates, but do not have any pictures of the chipping paint, the peeling wallpaper, the holes in the ceiling and walls. The second bedroom has several doors besides the entrance - one leads to a small closet, one opens to the back of the microwave and toaster oven in the kitchen. The door doesn't seem to fully open or fully close. The last door leads to a creepy walk-through closet to the living room. We tried to make breakfast but all of the pans were so worn down that we couldn't get an egg or a pancake to flip when using spray and/or butter. We ended up having to go out for breakfast. Overall, we were pretty disappointed and felt like the pictures were misrepresentative. I was surprised because the rating had been a 10, but when looking again, I realized that these were not from VRBO and contained no written reviews. I couldn't find reviews on other sites either, so I'm unsure if the ratings were just added by the owner.
