My wife and I love to stay at St Charles and try new things. We had always wanted to stay on the Historic District but we will probably change that mindset after this experience.
First, the price is not worth what you get for the money. There is nothing that was misrepresented by the listing but it is the worst of what they say, not the best. They say “noise” but it was unimaginable. The listing is right across from a bar so the noise involved lost of yelling, cursing, etc… until 2 am.
Parking is an issue as well. Yes they say “street parking” but it is hard to find a spot close enough. Which means you are carrying your luggage quite a ways to the location. Plus there are signs stating a two hour limit for parking.
Cleanliness was an issue as well. We found a chicken bone on the couch when we arrived. There are black spider-webs above each window—not sure how long they have to be there to turn black. I walked across the hardwood floor in my bare feet after a shower and had tons of stuff on the bottom of my feet. For an extra $150 in service fees, I was expecting more.
There is a window in the room the looks out to the stairwell. It lets in way too much light from the stairwell when trying to sleep.
Overall, the worst experience at a stay in this area that we have ever experienced to date. I guess if you were doing a “bar crawl” then the location would be perfect. On a positive, we did have trouble with the TV and they responded by text right away.
