King's Lighthouse is a wonderful property. Two friends and I stayed here for a week on our first visit to the Virgin Islands and all agree we would stay here again. The property is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, has a large fridge, and the beds were comfortable. The owner communicated right away to answer our questions and even made a special trip to provide beach towels for us.Plus:- The property is nicely furnished, including some nice antique pieces (there is a book on furniture from the area).- The property is in very close walking distance to at least four restaurants and a short walking distance to groceries and many storefronts in a busy shopping area. - Communication with the owner was great.Minus: - the hills - my travel group consisted of all senior citizens (one close to 80 years of age). The property is located on the hillside so any walking included up and down treks. Walking the neighborhood was hard for our oldest member. - Parking - Streets are very narrow with limited parking. We felt lucky to find parking close to the property every day. We didn't go out at night so don't know what it would have been like to find a spot later in the evening.- Noisy at night, the property being right on the edge of the street, so we heard cars and motorcycles at all hours. The noise didn't affect my friends (one wore ear plugs) but I am very sensitive to noise and roosters don't seem to care what time of day or night they crow.
Beautiful views from the balcony and the space had old world charm. Centrally located near the marina. Be prepared to climb a steep hill to get to the place. Most taxis cannot bring you to the door. The place is worth the slight challenge. The local rooster is quite consistent in the early morning hours. Use the ear plugs, it helps plus close the shutters. This was a great start to our Caribbean vacation!
The property was in an excellent location. The old home was renovated, antique decor, beautifully decorated and just stunning in every way. We walked to a delicious restaurant right next to the house for lunch and the we walked to the Charlotte Amalie Harbor for an amazing dinner with beautiful views at Oceana.
Everything was clean. The views and ambiance from
this home were absolutely spectacular. We were walking distance to shops and many fun places to explore. I had thought that I would want to return to have more time to explore.
The host allowed a little earlier check in. This would have been a 5 star rating except for the nightclub that started pounding out music that rattled the walls from about 1:30 to 5:30 in the morning. One of the couples was able the sleep through it but the rest of us were up all night. This might have been an isolated event and it is not the owners fault. I am so sorry that this quant neighborhood has a nightclub putting out this noise pollution all night. I checked my clock at 3:50 am and just hoped that this town closed these nightclubs down at 4:00âŠ. NOPE! I am sorry for this host that has obviously worked so hard to provide a lovely home for rent. It would have been the perfect spot if not for the loud music all night.
I really regret leaving a negative review as I am a host. This is not the property ownerâs fault. But the City of Charlotte Amalie is responsible. Valerie
Had to move the trip up one day and this room was not availability. A different room downstairs which was open and to no avail. Never stepped foot in the place however did have the honor or paying for cleaning. Impartial on all reviews as neutral however we did drive by and the location was good. When I asked to have the cleaning fee refunded since the door was never opened, no response. Stayed in Sapphire . Great spot
This property worked out great for our group. We flew into STT and had to be on the ferry to the BVI the next morning. Great location for walking to the ferry terminal and stopping for coffee in the morning. The property entrance and the Google maps location were close, but we did have to walk around a little to find the entrance. Although we only stayed one night, this would have been a great choice for a multi-day stay in St. Thomas.
