The place is a uniquely beautifully back in time castle style setting, with a very peaceful and historical atmosphere! The host and property staff were so accommodating and welcoming! Thanks!
Amazing venue. Child and dog friendly. Both host and caretaker Mandy were lovely. Was given directions and gate code prior to stay. Excellent facilities including large kitchen. Grounds are lovely with moat running around castle.
We booked a night for my daughterâs hen party. The castle looked amazing on the photos but in person it was unbelievable. The turret rooms were excellent and well finished. Some of the beds in the main castle were so beautiful and ornate. Mandy was brilliant. Such an amazing host and made us feel at ease from the moment we arrived. We need to think of a reason to stay again as we all had such a good time.
Had a wonderful time. Castle is amazing. Rooms are lovely with confy beds and fab bathrooms. Private grounds made it perfect for a large family gathering. Our host Mandy was spot on.
Good points-The building is impressive from the outside , as is the outside space and its great value for money when you consider the grounds- Turrets are great, all very smart and clean.- Guest dining room is nicely done and authentic- Village is just a short walk with a pub, massive Tesco nearby and can recommend Moddeshall Oaks Spa very close by- When we had issues with the hot water in part of the building the live-in host got it sorted in a few hours. Even then we had hot water available in other parts of the property so not a problemThings to be aware of- Guests are asked not to use the main entrance and are asked to use the cellar entrance to the main building- Many of the photos are of rooms that you are asked not to use. - The cellar entrance takes you into a gloomy lounge area. Worse still is the kitchen which we were told would be refurbished before we arrived. The photo shows this is quite industrial, there is an old oven/hob and some old fridges and there is a huge boarded up area (not visible in photos). Initially the second more modern kitchen wasnt open for us, but this was opened up, but that is much smaller.- Whilst there are benefits to having a live-in host, they do access the main hallway to the front door, so whilst the bedrooms and cellar is private, the rest is not.- The "courtyard garden" where you sit outside is actualy an old patio outside the cellar next to a half finished conservatory
Awesome property! My family loved staying here, and the kids have a great memory of spending the night in a castle. The owner and property manager were both great and very communicative.
We had a lovely stay at the castle for a surprise 40th. The Castle over exceeded my expectations. The group thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Some appliances weren't working at the castle, along with some issues with the host that were resolved.John was great with communication, made everything so easy to sort, including a last minute booking for one of the rooms.Great experience, would happily book again!Thank you John.
Incredible property, exactly as advertised. The host John and caretaker Mandy were both very accommodating and were always available to answer any questions at all times.
We had a great time exploring the castle and the grounds. The guest kitchen, lounge, dining, and billard room were perfect for us to get together. Cooking for 20 of us in one go was certainly challenging but we managed.
We absolutely loved staying at the castle to celebrate our friends 40th birthdays! John was great messaging prior to our stay, with any questions I had answered quickly. Mandy was incredibly welcoming and friendly, who met us on arrival and showed us around. What a magnificent place to stay! The castle was incredible, and had loads of amazing rooms and features. We had the best time! Thank you so much
Excellent property, so much room and character.Mandy the host looked after us well and just left us to it. Enough kitchen space to make and serve our evening buffet and make breakfast. The turrets where we slept were beautiful and the castle grounds are breathtaking.Red inn pub is 2 minutes walk away and serves very reasonably priced food which is delicious.Would highly recommend this magical castle for a truly unique experience.
I stayed here for my birthday with around 20 friends and it was amazing from beginning to end. Mandy made sure everything was clean and she was very welcoming. We had the place to ourselves which was great and we will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much!
This castle is a gem.of a find. I celebrated my 50th birthday with 24 family and friends. The bedrooms and bathrooms are beautiful, the main lounge and library great places to gather and spend time together. The dining room was perfect for our special meal. The kitchen neefs some renovation but i understand this is happening later this year. We had a fantastic time celebrating in thisamazing castle.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the castle , it was an excellent venue for large families. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived . Thank you all x
We had the best time at Caverswall. The team were so flexible to make our experience as easy as possible. Everything in the ad is exactly as itâs described and more. It truly was perfect!
We had such a lovely time together for a long weekend away at this fantastic castle. It isnât perfect but the housekeeper and owner are great at communicating and any issues we had such as with the wifi (not their fault) were dealt with as best as they could. The owner is working his way around the castle doing it up and I am sure the new kitchen will be amazing when itâs done and make a nice addition to the shared area. Would go again
The planning phase was excellent eg negotiation with the manager John re number of rooms etc, facilities, and many other issues. Arrival was smooth. The Castle is amazing, especially when lit up and the grounds are lovely. Osman showed us around and he was very professional and helpful. The Turret rooms are fabulous with exceptional amenities including the sofa beds which are very comfortable. Also the Castle rooms are very impressive. The layout eg kitchen, lounge and dining room plus fridges etc worked extremely well for our celebration.
The location worked well for us as we visited the Gladstone Pottery museum, Emma Gladstone Pottery Factory and the next day, the National Memoral Arboretum
We are only disappointed we didn't stay for longer - next time!!
We will definitely visit again and recommend to our family/friends.
Mandy is a superb host to have on site, so welcoming, helpful and friendly. The location is absolutely beautiful and the owners have done a wonderful job of keeping the character and class of the building whilst adding additional renovations to give the modern touch. Communication was great and we had a fantastic weekend. It was my second time staying here and I can say Iâll definitely be back again in future!
Ideal location and 'homestay' for large family group
The perfect location for my sister's 50th birthday. we booked 4 turret apartments and a main guest bedroom in the house for 15 of us. Great 2pm check-in time and John allowed us a 3pm check-out time on the Sunday which meant we could spend time together as a family for longer. Bedrooms/apartments are very modern and fully equipped. Living spaces are large and enough space for large family dinners
