We had booked our stay months ago and when we arrived we were turned away by the owner.We messaged the property manager before we came to ask how to get into the property. We never received a response. When we arrived, we tried messaging and calling — only to get a voicemail machine in German. We had to reach out to VRBO for help.While on the phone with VRBO, one of the neighbors got the owner — who spent a half hour explaining to my wife about how it was booked by a couple from Switzerland for six days on the following day (we are from the United States and were only booked for two days). Per the owner, the reservation from Switzerland came a week prior (we booked months prior).He also insisted that he only books for three days or more, which was not on the listing.The owner was almost combative to the point that the VRBO assistant was concerned for our safety.After arguing with the owner, I asked VRBO to find us someplace else to stay. They ended up locating a charming apartment within the walls of Slon and we left.AFTER we had to go find another location, we received a message from the property manager indicating that for ‘unfortunate reasons’ they had to cancel — the real reason was that they got a better offer.The property did not appear to match the description of the photos. The owner complained about how he was still working on the property and it was not clean. Parking and driving through the narrow roads to get there were both impossible.
