We loved the unit, the views and proximity to the pool. All the pillows were appreciated. However having only one key sometimes made it hard to all go to different places, even just to the pool or across the street to Stratton Village. Two would be easier. Some pots and pans in the kitchen had to be washed before use. If we hadnât stayed in other Long Trail Units previously, directions to pick up the key would have been difficult to follow. I suggest you tell folks to park at the welcome center and walk across the street. Directions make it sound like thereâs parking near where to get the key, and there isnât.
1. Toaster does not work properly.
2. Bathroom toilet ran / tank would not fill 100%.
3. Smoke detector battery was low/intermittent chirping - had to disconnect.
We were here last August and as I recall, I made the same comments (for items 1 & 2) before.
We stopped to pick up the key cards at 3:35, they were not in the lock box. We were going to pick up the cards then continue to see a friend on the way to the condo. Called vacasa number and got a person, She said someone would get back to us with in 60 minutes. it's now 3:45, check in time is 4:00. At 3:44 I got an email saying "your eligible for early check in" At 3:50 the cleaning lady shows up with the key cards and an attitude an " well your not suppose to check in until 4:00", It's at least a 15 minute trip to the condo plus the early check in email.
Even though I had seen a previous comment about the check-in info being wrong, and a reply from the host that the issues had been corrected, I was sent a check-in code which was useless since there was no lock box, with a backup to check-in at Black Bear Lodge, which turned out to be incorrect. When I showed at Black Bear Lodge, I was told that the check-in was at the Welcome Center, which turned out to be correct. The frustrating part is the staff told me that they've told Vasasa many times to correct the check-in info, which has not been done. The 2nd issue was that the A/C in the room was not working. We didn't notice until the night before check-out, as the unit was running, but was just not cooling the room. We thought at first it was because the doors had been opened and it was really hot outside, but after 24 hrs in the room finally confirmed that even with all doors and windows closed, and the A/C set at 68F, the temp in the room was actually 75F and increasing steadily.
Great Condo just across from Stratton Village/Bad check in process
I am a frequent VRBO utilizer and reviewer. I generally give really high ratings but I had to comment on a few issues we had with this booking. To be clear the property itself was great and just what was advertised BUT the property management was lacking.
We generally book owner managed properties but this was a last minute trip. This property is managed by VACASA (which is not local).
The morning of the trip we were emailed the check in instructions (a little late for advance planning). We had decided to go hiking during the day and were planning to pick up the key at the described location when done. We hiked and then swung by the location at 3:30 for our 4pm check in as it was at another location than the condo. At 3:30 there was no key where it was supposed to be. We thought perhaps it gets dropped off at 4pm...but still no key. I call the property management company, who was very nice but had no knowledge of how to get the key. A full hour went by and I had to call back again to finally get the instructions to go to another property where they would print the key. This was fine because we were familiar with the area but this would require other visitors to drive to another location 7 minutes back toward the mountain from the original pickup area. We went to the other property to print the key and the very nice Stratton employee had no notification we would need a printed key. We then had to call VACASA for a third time to have them give permission on the phone and speak with him. Not one of the Vacasa calls offered service recovery or even apologies. It was quite disorganized and not a good check in experience. I had hungry, tired and exhausted kids by that point. Check in smoothness is key for high booking properties and short stays.
After that the trip was smooth. The condo was lovely. Location was perfect. It was a little worn from wear and tear over the years but clean and comfortable. It was just as advertised. The location was very good with a balcony just over the pool. Kids loved the pool and hot tub. It had really comfortable beds and black out curtains/shades. It had all the kitchen tools and amenities you could want. Would highly recommend this property if they fix the check in experience.
