Splendid Cozy Log Cabin with Beautiful Mountain Views!

Come enjoy a mountain sanctuary at Wood's End. Located at the end of a quiet road on private, wooded mountain acreage with beautiful long-range mountain views, and surrounded by miles of walking and hiking trails; Wood's End is a classic-style Log Cabin which has been lovingly and painstakingly remodeled inside from top to bottom.

The original square log walls and wide-plank wood floors have been brought back to their original glory, yet the Kitchen has been outfitted with new Stainless appliances and Granite countertops. The bathrooms have also been completely redone with granite vanities and oversized ceramic tile floors, vaulted ceilings with hardwood accents and heat lights, fully-tiled tub and shower settings. The Living Room features its original stone wood-burning fireplace with a beautiful hearth and mantle. Equipped with a large wall-mounted Flat Panel HDTV with Surround Sound Enjoy the mountain air and view on the front porch and dine on the huge extended deck. During the warmer summer days enjoy the comfort of the Central Air Conditioning.

The Master Bedroom is on the main floor with a Queen bed, wall-mounted flat screen HDTV with digital cable programming and Netflix capability. It has a full bathroom with an large tiled shower and granite top vanity.

The Second floor features two additional bedrooms - one with a Queen bed and the other with a Queen and a Twin bed. Both bedrooms have large closets and share a full bath with tile floors, a granite vanity, vaulted ceiling, with a tub/shower fully-enclosed in beautiful tile work.

The outside living space includes a 2-tier deck; a covered front porch with an open-air grilling area, and a step down onto a beautiful open-air deck with a large outdoor dining table and chairs. Walk down the stone path to the impressive Fire Pit which is enclosed in a large pea gravel field with chairs and benches. There is a covered back porch with a nice flat mulched area behind the cabin for your outdoor play and recreation.

Venture away from the cabin among acres and acres of wooded mountainside acreage lined with walking and hiking trails, hidden places with benched seating - the Watauga River is even within walking distance of the cabin (1 mile walk or 1/2 mile drive) for cooling off with a quick dip, or trying your hand at fishing for mountain trout which run through the Watauga River.

Although is feels like you are out on a mountain in the middle of nowhere, you are actually only 12 miles to Downtown Boone, or only 5 miles to the Tennessee line, then another 5 miles or so to the eastern part of the Watauga Lake.

I don't know where to begin when talking about how wonderful our stay was! The hosts answered my emails within the same day. Everything was just perfect. We enjoyed the ride up the well manicured driveway to the cabin. Someone obviously takes care of the lawn, flowers, and bushes year round. As a graduate of App (class of '93) I appreciated the safety features built into the driveway to prevent vehicles from sliding on snow and ice. The inside was quaint and very cabin-like, but with modern upgrades. The log walls, wood floors, furniture and decorations all fit the image of a cabin in the woods. The marble counters, steam filter in the bathroom, stone and tile definitely added a luxurious touch. Every place I needed a plug, one was there. Everything was neatly labelled, and the roomy closets were fully stocked for winter evenings. The fireplace and the fire pit were both stocked with the varying types of wood needed to build a fire. The floorboards were clean, unscuffed, and dust free - even in the corners! The fans were silent, and the windows slid up and down with ease. There were even hooks for shorter people to pull down the shades. Every detail had been thought of and taken care of. We are very much looking forward to a girls' weekend in the fall.

Beautifully landscaped property, out door spaces were extensive and well cared for. Inside out the cabin was immaculate. Everything from the light switches to the spoon drawers were labeled for ease of use. This cabin had everything needed for a great family trip.

The cabin and surrounding yard are small, but the owners have done a great job of utilizing all of the space. Location was good and the cabin is very well stocked. The outside grill was the only potential negative as it’s older and doesn’t cook evenly but we figured it out. Overall, it was a great stay for the six of us and we would definitely recommend to a friend.

The hosts made sure to contact us several times to make sure everything was okay. They spent a lot of time attending to every detail to make sure we felt welcome. The cabin is beautiful and there's plenty of outdoor space to enjoy as well. They have a gorgeous porch to sit on and a very well done fire pit. Everything was fabulous nothing negative whatsoever to say about the property or the host, they are awesome. Surprisingly the owners called us once to see if we were bothered by the neighborhood's dogs barking. I was surprised because dogs are going to bark and the owners would have no control over anybody else's dogs. I can't imagine that anybody would complain. We're in the woods and people have dogs in the woods. That's the way it is. Dogs bark if they see a bear so it's good security. I heard the dogs bark but they only barked periodically and it wasn't constant and it certainly did not bother us. Thank you so very much to Owen and Cynthia for putting such love and care into their home and making it such a magical place for us to spend time there.

The cabin was as described in terms of cleanliness and facilities. The view is as pictured but not as impressive as other cabin rentals we have vacationed in. Pleasant enough. Everything was in working order. Our stay was greatly spoiled by about 3 large dogs barking from somewhere nearby multiple times and days (and nights). We did not get the peace we booked for and reported this to the owner on the 2nd day who confirmed the previous renters said the same. Owners offered either time in lieu at cabin or financial compensation that I did not ask for and have since not responded to any contact either from myself or VRBO Customer Service. Not honorable, save yourself the trouble. I did not want to leave this negative review but give lack of response, I have no option. Overall, very disappointing an a wasted week of my vacation time from work.

Woods End has everything one needs for a relaxing time in the mountains of North Carolina. The house, especially the kitchen, is very well equipped and was immaculate. We enjoyed rocking on the front porch. Meals at the table on the outside deck were thoroughly enjoyable. At night, the firepit provided a wonderful evening while we roasted marshmallows and/or shared a glass of wine. The location was quiet yet not too far from the town of Boone. Boone is a college town which gives off fun vibes. There are plenty of excellent restaurants. We especially enjoyed the Pedaling Pig....delicious barbecue and superb service. I could go on and on about the month we spent at Woods End, but suffice it to say, we highly recommend this house.

Everything was seamless from check in to check out. The owners are wonderful, even calling me a couple days before to let me know about an HVAC issue and our options surrounding that. The cabin was very clean and updated and had everything we needed and more. All of the furniture was comfortable and well maintained. Our favorite thing to do during our stay was sit on the deck to enjoy the beautiful view and watch the thunderstorms. We will definitely be returning

Dad’s 84th Birthday!

The Woods Edge was the perfect getaway my brother and I were looking for. My dad is turning 84 and we wanted to give him a relaxing weekend in the high country. This place is accessible to everywhere…Boone and it’s great selection of restaurants, Banner Elk/Linville and it’s great waterfalls and hikes, Vilas and it’s perfect setting for eating ice cream at Mast by the stream. Super clean and comfortable. A big thank you to Cynthia and Olen for a great weekend!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin kind of wraps it's arms around you when you walk in. It was very clean, which I loved. The outside decks are nice as well. We were sitting out enjoying the stars and actually saw several satellites pass over. You can definitely relax. Tons of outdoors things to do in the area.

Beautiful secluded home

We were absolutely pleased with the home. Super cozy, comfortable beds, well stocked and overall just a lovely home! We were displeased unfortunately, with the lack of information regarding the driveway up. Understandably, the area has seen a lot of damage from Helene and their driveway had some erosion issues that were likely worsened by the storm, however, the driveway is steep enough in places that in the winter - there should be a significant warning/suggestion to reserving guests that they’ll need at least 4WD. Preferably chains considering the driveway has continuous water from the mountain coming through. So it’s ices up and is very slick. We spent almost 5 hrs trying to dig away hard ice and snow to get one of the SUVs safely parked because it was sliding down the driveway and almost into the ditch off side of driveway. Where we surely would have been stuck. Chains would have been helpful but we wouldn’t have reserved this place regardless of how cute it is, had we known the driveway was long, inclined and ungroomed with thick ice. The owners were incredibly nice to talk with and tried to offer suggestive help. It was clear they were very aware of the problems with driveway though. I should have read the reviews more…. I now see multiple positive reviews that make many mentions of driveway issues over the years. The listing should warn people. This all said, I’d rent it again happily any other time of year! Owners also gave us a late check out.

Holiday weekend

My family of four spends time in the mountains before Christmas every year. This year we had the pleasure of spending time at this beautiful cabin. The cabin was so cozy and clean. We loved the location and the views from the cabin. We felt secluded but were very close to the surrounding areas such as Boone and Banner Elk.We highly recommend this cabin to anyone who is ready to relax and enjoy the peaceful location!

Family Stay

Our family is scattered. California, Pennsylvania, Kentucky. This was a fabulous place for us to meet and enjoy some time together. Beautiful property. Incredible views. Very comfortable cabin. Beds are great. Layout is great. Outdoor spaces are exceptional. It has everything you could need. Close to Boone for restaurants and shopping. We would definitely come back again.
