We arrived for a 3 night stay on our honeymoon tour of New England, only to find the hotel had overbooked itself and were not prepared to let us stay. We had booked 10 months in advance so there really was no excuse for this. The receptionist sent us to their 'sister hotel' Best Western, suggesting it was similar to the Holiday Inn. On our arrival there, it was awful - not only tired, but filthy and our room carpet smelt of a thousand sweaty feet. If you want to guarantee you'll have a room available to stay in, don't book this Holiday Inn. And if you arrive to find they're sending you to the Best Western, decline their offer to transfer you - book yourself somewhere else.
In addition, Expedia Customer service kept me on the phone for just under an hour and essentially accused me of lying, before finally someone called the hotel and spoke to the receptionist standing in front of me to confirm they were overbooked and I needed refunding. Shocking service from both Holiday Inn and Expedia.
