Backpacker Hostel Changchun is a great hostel centrally located and convenient to train and bus services. The staff were great and helped get me to the hospital in a medical emergency.
Great location close to Nanjing Fuxing station, I had a hiccup with my flight schedule and they were very accommodating. The room was pretty basic, the air con was cold (bonus points for quiet!) & my roommates were all considerate & chill. Showers were hot and clean, bathrooms were well maintained. The only real 'dings' I'd give are to the common kitchen area--not enough coffee mugs (and no glasses that I could find), not enough cooking equipment (if the single pan is in use (and the person using it is doubling it as a bowl due to a lack of those too...)) & odd layout--suitable if your meal requires minimal cooking, is more or less instant or can be fabricated entirely in a microwave. Bonus points for friendly helpful front desk staff.
Very reasonable price for a single room. The showering room is clean and the staffs are helpful. The location is quite far away from the Metro station though and it is already reflected in the price. If you can do a bit research on the bus routes, this hostel is in fact at a quite convenient location.
Alright, room was a bit dirty and I donât think there was any controllable air conditioning which sucks when youâre in such a small space. Price is good for weekdays for 2 people.
Hostel staffs are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small/ no windows, but just right for resting (not for working). The community room has simple kitchen and large dinning room set ups (microwave/toaster oven, hot water, coffee/tea makers, laundry set too), a flat screen TV, a couple computers, Internet/WiFi thru out in particular is very efficient. Plenty of shower stalls, separate toilets(secured to open by guest registered room card key)
Wall paintings are very inviting and pleasant.
Under the bed have piles of dust. Looks like no one vacuums under the bed. Dust also holds moisture and gross mold.
They have dehumidifiers at every hallway. Either they are not effective or not turned on. There while place smells of mold.
Toilet\shower stalls are not clean.
Toilet & shower stalls are very small. Always damp. Heavy smell of mold. Old carpets in many area. They hold moisture, adds to mold growth.
Bathroom sink area are always have pools of water. Hair dryer power cord lying on top of the water.
The staff are very kind and always put the customer first. I really appreciate them.
Below is the points that I wanted to know before choosing this hostel.
*They have shampoo, body soap, and toilet paper.
*They don't have conditioner, towels, and toothpaste.
*You can't flush the paper in the toilet. But they have a shower hose.
*The reception is open 9:00-21:00.
*Expedia website says they offer 24h transportation to the airport, but actually you have to manage by yourself.
If your flight is early or late, I recommend you to install Uber or LINE taxi before departure. You need to verify your phone no.
Iâm usually exceptionally happy with most of my stays, however this time left a lot to be desired. From start to end it was not great. I know you get what you pay for and Iâm not disputing it was extremely cheap to stay here. But there are some things you kind of expect, like clean showering facilities and toilets, basic hospitality and welcoming staff. This place however is probably a biohazard with the state of the bathrooms and showers.
It seems as though school groups stay here as there was a large group of students here when we arrived and they were constantly running up and down the halls, knocking on doors and screaming in the halls, taking up the entire common area at night and the morning. The staff did very little to alleviate the constant yelling and screaming from this school group.
The staff member who welcomed us looked starlight at us and put his hand out and said âpassportâ no hello, no welcome, just passport and I know I sound like Iâm picking on little things here but after a long frustrating delayed journey, a little bit of hospitality wouldnât go astray.
I urge the hostel to really look at how they could improve and create a better experience for their guests and the space is fine and the location is good but itâs not a place to feel comfortable or clean.
