I enjoyed my stay at citizenM Taipei North Gate. The hotel has a funky, postmodern vibe, with bright red neon lights at the entrance and self check-in kiosks. The hotel promotes self check-in, but a staff member is stationed right beside the kiosk, essentially hovering and guiding you through each step, which makes the process feel a bit ironic, though still friendly and efficient.
The room was on the smaller side but clean, modern, and well maintained. The layout took a little different, the sink is in the main bedroom area, and the glass-enclosed bathroom contains just the toilet and shower. I paid extra for a higher-floor room with a view, and I’m happy I did! The view was beautiful and it was nice waking up to skyline since I was only in Tapei for a short stay.
Breakfast was decent but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, I would recommend the hotel. However, Taipei is such a massive city that the “convenient” location felt somewhat irrelevant, as getting around still required travel regardless of where you stayed.
