Even though it rained every day we stayed we loved every minute of it! The St. David cabin was just as the pictures, not too small and not too big. The two person tub is amazing! The host is super helpful and full of information.Highly recommend!
The heating and water heater were stellar! We could not have asked for a more comfortable visit inside. Some of the screens were missing on the screened in porch which was not advertised. That made it difficult to enjoy time out there with our youngest child. There is also a pirate ship that is out of order and that was part of the reason we chose the cabin
Cabin in remote area in southern Indiana. Nice to relax and re-charge! Close to French Lick, Marengo Cave, Patoka Lake, Lincolnâs boyhood memorial. Host is responsive and helpful.
Itâs a good thing they invented GPS, or we would have never found White Oaks Cabins. Itâs located off some back country roads in a very peaceful and serene area, far removed from the stereotypes of Indiana flatness. Our cabin was warm and cozy and we especially enjoyed sitting on the screened-in front porch in the evening, listening to the sounds of nature. Despite its seeming isolation, itâs only a few miles from a nice restaurant (Lucas Oil Clubhouse) and a grocery (Jayceeâs) in the town of English. Heather, the property manager, was always quick to respond to my questions. Youâll enjoy your stay even if you don't have the same perfect weather that we did.
There is a wedding venue nearby and there is quite a bit of noise later into the evening and all throughout the day which disrupted the idea of a relaxing camping style cabin trip. There was Karaoke and loud music. It was hard to use the game barn because everything was always taken by the guests in the large cabin and there was music blaring so loud in the game barn from guests that you couldnât have a conversation. The screens were ripped on the porch so bugs could come in, defeating the purpose of a screened in porch. We wanted to use the picnic table in the middle of the cabin area we rented since the land was flat there, but it was broken so we had to use the picnic table in front of our cabin which was on a hill and excessively uncomfortable for that reason. One of the plastic chairs provided for the fire was broken. The property has potential, but unfortunately, myself and my coworkers felt the cabin simply wasnât worth what you pay for it and that the area just needs some TLC.
Cabins were clean and the view was breathtaking! The wild life and flowers were gorgeous. Very relaxing wished we could stay longer. Will definitely come back and visit again
Great stay and the new owner(s) are improving it daily
The new owner was johnny-on-the-spot and sincerely asked for all the feedback we could give her, especially what was wrong because she's so intent on immediately improving things.
But...there was very little wrong with our cabin and a lot right. It's certainly in the hills and the driveway to this particular cabin requires 4-wheel drive if there is snow or ice. That's what makes it unique though.
Absolutely consider this cabin unless you don't have 4-wheel drive for bad conditions, or if you have an elderly person who doesn't do stairs. The stairs are a little steep for someone uncertain with their balance. If that's the case with you, pick one of the other cabins on the property - there are several! Just inquire about the one-story cabins or those with gentler stairs.
Will definitely be back!
It might be a little off the beaten path but what a cool property. We used it as a home base to explore Jasper, Patoka Lake and French Lick. The wildlife was abundant, scenery was great and the cabin was well taken care of and cozy. Looking forward to next time!
We enjoyed being out in the woods and being visited by the goat and wild turkeys. Plenty comfortable! (It was a bit hard to find in the dark, but we got the help we needed.)
Really loved the cabin and property. Love the peace and quiet for the most part. Love Nigel the goat. I think he needs a mate to keep him company. Cabin could have used another hand rail on the stairs going up to bedrooms. Was a little hard for us to get up and down. Also really did care for the dog barking all day on Saturday. I would recommend this place to everyone. Look foward to coming back
We really loved the cabin! The bedrooms are upstairs. One bedroom has 2 twin beds and one bedroom had a full size bed and a twin bed. Online it says a queen bed in one and 2 twin beds in the second room. We really liked sitting on the screened in porch. The porch does needs new screen on the porch. There is gathering barn that has lots of outside games to play and there is a pond you can fish in. There is a goat that roams the area that is friendly. There is so much to see in the area and it is close to Patoka Lake for boating fun. We would highly recommend staying at the cabins here. We will most likely stay again there next year.
Finally, I left my medicine in the bathroom. The housekeeper not only gave it to the owner but she called the pharmacy to let them know! Then the owners met me in New Albany to get me my medicine! The nicest people. <3 Many thanks!
