A beautiful, remote location. Its a bit more on the run down/diy improvement feel. They have tried to do up the bathrooms and kitchens, which looked nice until you look a bit closer and some mistakes were made. The soa bath was a nice surprise, a bit run down again in the room. Overall a nice, quiet place for families, playground on site.

Dirty, mouldy and run down rooms - chipped plates and bowls. Very limited amenities - no wardrobe, no iron, no hair dryer, minimal cutlery. Peeling shower, broken tiles and mouldy ceiling in bathroom.

If you want '5-star rock-star' type accommodation then best you look elsewhere......BUT........if you want good honest comfortable and authentic 'kiwiana' accommodation at an affordable price look no further. I stayed there for x3 nights whilst site seeing the district and have no regrets at all. Bed was very comfortable and warm (resulting in a continuous 8hrs sleep every night) , room cosey and warm (thanks to efficient heat pump for chilly nights), strong wifi, almost instant really hot water, adequate kitchette area for heating up pre-prepared meals bought with me, and with complimentary tea/coffee/sugar and salt/pepper sachets, tv, separate bathroom with good hot water and tap pressure, etc, etc. Yes the walls between units are a tad thin and the grounds a bit tired looking and 'this and that', but it's real and has a unique character - it's different and safe. Worked for me and if you open your mind and relax a little it will work for you also. A bonus is that the highly rated AC Baths Taupo Swimming Pool complex is only a 5 minute walk away as is a really good bakery/cafe for those wanting/needing an early morning barista coffee fix and food to accompany........Stuart in Tauranga

Pros: spa bath was nice. Room was warm with heat pump and fan heater on when we arrived. and looked clean and tidy at first glance , reception friendly. Nice Reno in room too. Price was right. Cons: outside very rundown giving a bad first impression. 1 hair in shower and soaps scum needed a deep clean. No extra blankets, mezzanine bedroom was warm with heat pump but back room was cold. fan heater provided but didn’t want to leave that on all night, an extra thick blanket for downstairs would be good. Some glasses were dirty.

We checked in but when we looked at the rooms it was so smelly and old It was not like the photos provided in the website. So disappointed and we stayed in another hotel. No pool and the property is not maintained well In our bedroom ceiling there were some stains and not pleasant Not recommended

Comfortable bed, clean bedding and towels The room is tired looking and needed a good clean. The amenities were really old. Outside the balustrade needed to be repainted and the grounds were need of maintenance. Perfect place for an overnight stay where you only need a bed. The tv only has free view and is so old most of the apps on it are no longer available.
