Overall, a good place to stay with a few quirks that we ran into. First, the good. The location is great with Crystal Mountain just down the road and Frankfort only 20 minutes away. We loved being next to the river! Our boys found bugs and little fish to catch and it wasn't too deep near the dock. Yes, it is next to a campground and road but overall was pretty quiet the weekend we were there. The firepit is a nice touch too.Now the not so great, the bedroom with two twin beds was unusable as there was a strong odor in that room. Vacasa offered to have someone come out but I don't want to deal with that on my vacation so we just slept elsewhere. Also, the internet and TV worked when it wanted to and the A/C was a bit of a mystery. It's good to "unplug" on vacation but those things should work if it is listed as an amenity. We were away from the cabin most days so probably would have casued more disruption if we had stayed more in the cabin. Fix those issues and we would be back.

Beware - Vacasa is a rental co.

Due to extreme Michigan weather, ice, wind, no electricity, we were unable to travel to our VRBO site. Called 800 number - English is second language. No help. Would be better to deal with personal owner than large rental company who uses VRBO for advertising and is unresponsive.

Great Potential

We pulled up to an overflowing trash can that had been raided by racoons, the furnace required service during our stay, and I'm not quite sure how this is listed to sleep 8. Otherwise, the view of the river is awesome, the Vacasa representatives were able to help us through a few issues, and the interior of the house was nice. With a few of the kinks worked out this was an enjoyable stay.

Perfect Fall Getaway

Great family friendly location. We really enjoyed the cozy feeling of the home and furnishings. The house has a neat layout that added to the unique characteristics. Loved the view of the River from the living room. The fire pit location was a bonus! Cannot wait to come back!

Beautiful View

The house was very cozy and comfortable. We had plenty of room to spread out. The river in the backyard was a lot of fun for the kids, they fished and played in the water in the shallow areas. Very nice place.

Nice property, clean, and easy process, but some issues

As the title states, the house was very clean and there was plenty of room for our two families to enjoy a trip up north. The seating was ample and the outside was great as well. However, there were some issues with it that make me not want to recommend it to other guests, at least with circumstances aligned with ours. The downstairs bathroom's lock was completely broken on arrival, and given it's a double sliding door, the privacy was poor. This same bathroom's soap dispenser was also empty when we arrived. The property does have central heating and cooling, but the upstairs bedroom is not included in this. If you're staying in the summer, prepare for the first floor to be cold and the upstairs bedroom to be 10 degrees warmer or more. It was very uncomfortable and hard to sleep. There is a tiny fan up there that wouldn't turn on (just the light worked), and the windows being open didn't help much when it was muggy outside at night. Also, the pillows included on the king bed upstairs were the thinnest pillows I've ever seen, and provided no support. We had to go to the store to buy new pillows to use on our trip. The upstairs is also a loft with very weird ceilings following the contours of the roof, which I understand is probably unavoidable, but as a 6'4" person, I hit my head on the slanted walls a lot at night trying to find my way to the bathroom. This loft area also has no door, so there is zero privacy upstairs.

It’s clear someone took a lot of time to restore this older home. The inside was very clean and comfortable. We wish there was a book with some details on the house as some things weren’t as straightforward (e.g. no check out instructions). We enjoyed the location of this house from town and proximity to other cities (~35 minutes from Traverse City). The outside of the property needed a little TLC and didn’t seem like it received much attention for our visit - paint was chipping on the back deck, the trash can seemed like it had been sitting near the roadway for a while, there was a deceased animal in the middle of the driveway that we had to dispose of that had been sitting there a while, the grill wasn’t clean and had been sitting without a cover, and the grass was really long/hadn’t been cut in a while. Overall, it was a comfortable stay for our party of 4 and we would return if ever in the area again.

This house is awesome! It’s big and comfortable and private and such a beautiful setting overlooking the Betsie River! Only about a mile to Crystal Mountain skiing and golf. Kitchen has everything you could need.

Beautiful home Great location!

4 of us friends stayed here 4 nights for a ski trip in January. The home was so nicely decorated and had plenty of room! The large kitchen had all the pans and utensils we needed. The living room was cozy, large and had enough seating for a big group. The fireplace was beautiful, although the wood was snow covered and wet, they had 3 hour logs all ready to burn. The Betsie River is right out the door and so pretty. Crystal Mt is a mile away, so we downhill skied, cross country skied, and enjoyed the pool and hottub over there. We snowshoed in the park/campground next door. We can’t wait to stay here when it’s warmer and can kayak the river and bike/hike the nearby trails.

Wonderful place for a relaxing weekend

My son and I greatly enjoyed our stay. The house is roomy yet cozy. I appreciated the quality of the kitchen. Rooms were very comfortable and the downstairs shower was so relaxing. We also enjoyed the quiet evenings outside by the river with a fire going. Definitely saving this for another getaway some day.

Nice place for our group. Comfortable and clean. Neat house and easy drive to area attractions. A little noisy sometimes being close to a well traveled road but it wasn't all that noticeable. Good value compared to many other properties we considered.
