The only issue was that I offered to pay for an upgrade by contacting the property on the day of check in, but did not hear back. This resulted in having a drawn out discussion of options at 12.40am when I arrived on a flight which was delayed 5 hours. I ended up paying for 2 rooms for the night of 12.10.25: Single (did not enter it, circa 15,400 JPY) Twin (where I stayed with my companion (12,000 JPY).

Hotel Grand City provided a great room at a great price. They dealt with my booking complications swiftly and professionally. Mika, Saitou, Morita and Takahashi were polite and tried very hard to make me and my companion feel welcome. Our room was impeccable.

The room was an excellent size and very clean, the staff are really helpful and friendly. The hotel is located only a 5 minute walk from the station so very convenient. Will happily stay in this hotel again.

Our stay was overall good, the staff was accommodating and helpful. There were vending machines, free drinks and a microwave in the hotel. Some drawbacks: stains on the walls in our room, the hotel smelled like smoke pretty much everywhere and the hotel was not eco friendly. The towels were replaced every day even if hanging and when we requested no room cleaning, they provided clean towels anyway. There are multiple combined washer/dryers that were helpful to have but the dryer was not great, took 3 extra drying sessions and some items were still damp.

First time ever going to Japan and everything was easy here. The staff is very kind. Location is a 5-10 minute walk from a major station so it was easy coming and going. lots to do just around the hotel

i always stay here when i’m in japan. the staff are always friendly and it’s absolutely convenient. ikebukuro has so many trains going through it, so it makes my travel super easy. also, the breakfast here is always fabulous.

Convenient place to stay

Location is good, in city center, lots of shops and resturants around. 5 minutes walk to Ikebukuro station. Staff is nice. Luggage storage is possible on check-in and check-out date. Room is generally clean but quite small for 2 persons and a bit old. You are not able to change the temperature of the air cond. All you can only control is “high mid low” of the wind. In general, not an extraordinary stay but not bad.

the property is really close the heart of all shopping malls, bus terminal and metro stations. the downside of this hotel is the lift, it was cramp and the lift does not have security features. the lift is accessible to anybody or any hotel stayers to access to other storey. The room assigned to us is warm even though AC was open full blust.
