We had a wonderful time at the Outpost. It was perfectly located to Ohiopyle, Youghiogheny River Lake, and Laurel Caverns. We spent many evenings at the beautiful cabin just enjoying the many deer and turkey that roamed around. The highlight for us was the daily visits from Bart and Sofi -the neighbors labradors who where a wonderful welcome committee. We highly recommend The Outpost!
Loved the property. Quiet, great porch and pavilion by the ponds. Dry firewood was provided. Had problems with the tv but wifi was good. There's no dishwasher but didn't mind washing dishes. Could have used a dish drainer, though. Remember, you're in the woods with all the little critters. Loved having the neighbor's dogs come and visit. They were very friendly and loving.
This cabin was just as advertised. The road in is a bit steep, but the property itself is absolutely gorgeous, remote, and private - just what i was looking for. Despite the sense of isolation, food and basic necessities for a short stay are only a few miles away. Wifi connectivity was excellent, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the fire place made for a perfect rustic feel. My favorite part of my stay was the nearby ponds on the property and the chorus of wood frogs and spring peepers that lulled me to a magical sleep. I had the good fortune of meeting the owner and her ultra friendly dog Bart, I just can't rate this property high enough. If you are looking for an ideal location to stay in the Laurel Highlands that provides the best combination of location, modern convenience, and a truly rural setting, this is the jackpot right here.
beautiful surroundings and just the right distance away from our plans for Ohiopyle and Falling Water, check in and out were smooth and directions to the site nicely detailed, no problems at all. thanks ! hope to return!
This cabin was just as advertised, and perfect for our family. We were looking for some winter isolation, and found it at the Outpost. The fireplace was great, the arrangement was perfect for family games in front of the fire or at the table, the kitchen had what we needed, and the beds were comfortable. The owners were very responsive to a few questions we had, and we enjoyed saying hello to their two very friendly dogs who stopped by. We would stay there again, summer or winter.
I am giving an impartial review. I met the owner of the property and spoke with his wife. They were friendly.
1. The water pressure was extremely dismal and we could hardly bathe. They attributed the problem to a new well they had drilled for the property where we stayed. When they fixed it the pressure was fine but the water was brownish in color.
2. The TV reception was dismal as they told me they have fiber optic cable. The remote was extremely slow to respond and we never watched TV.
3. The property had a Keurig coffee maker but no Decaf coffee.
4. I had to purchase a bar of soap as they had bathing to respond.
We stayed at this cabin over July 4th and it was wonderful! It was very clean and comfortable. The setting is very quiet and peaceful, sitting on the porch was so relaxing! The dogs were the best; Bart and Sophie came to visit often which we loved! Susan was wonderful to deal with and very responsive. Thank you for a lovely stay!
We really enjoyed our stay with a 4 and 2 year old boy and an almost one year old pup! Bart was so sweet and had a wonderful influence on our mini Aussie. Great central location to many activities. I would love to come back for a winter experience!
The place was amazing, clean and served as a perfect cabin weekend away with the family and our dog in the Laurel Highlands. Quick to Ohiopyle with privacy to enjoy time as a family by the campfire! We are already looking forward to booking again!
Vrbo never sent us the door code luckily the owner lives next door. Listening should list there is no dish washer, but there is a microwave, gas grill and that you need to supply your own firewood for the fireplace. Beds were not the best. Overall a great weekend would go back again.
If you are looking for a relaxing place located in a fantastic area, but yet secluded and offers a lovely welcoming cabin, then you need to look no further. This quiet cabin is close to Ohio Pyle, Laurel Caverns, and many more great spots to see and experience.
And if you are a dog lover, you will be like we were and be in dog heaven. We had the honor of being welcomed and visited by Sophie and Bart, which made a great weekend even better. They became part of our many canine friends that we are privileged to have and look forward to seeing again soon.
The pavilion by the ponds with the large fire pit offers a beautiful setting for an evening making mountain pies, hotdogs, and s'mores. Enjoy a porch swing while the fire pit crackles and great memories are made. Fantastic caring hosts and owners of this fantastic place is the cherry on top of a perfect weekend getaway. Thank you for sharing this special place and your fantastic, and our new friends Sophie and Bart. Looking forward to seeing all again next year.

My two sons, ages 18 and 20, my husband, and I stayed here for two nights. The cabin was cute, clean, and cozy. They had many things available that a guest may need. My favorite thing to do was to sit on the porch in a rocking chair and just listen to nature. It was so peaceful. We loved visits from the owner's dogs. The location was close to food and things to do. Overall, loved our stay and would definitely stay again.
This place was the perfect getaway for a lovely outdoor and relaxing retreat. We enjoyed our time, and even our lab had a great time playing in the pond. The cabin was very clean, cozy and had everything we needed.
My family and I had a great stay at The Outpost. It is in a very secluded location, and has great amenities. The town is it located near has plenty of activities and things to see. It was very relaxing sitting around the fire and hearing all the sounds of nature. I definitely recommend The Outpost if you are looking to unplug from the world for a bit!
Cant say enough hood things about this place. Checkin was super easy. The place was very clean. I loved the location it was private seemed like you were off the beaten path but were not that far from Ohiopyle. The evenings we enjoyed sitting on the swing under the pavilion listening to the frogs in the ponds while relaxing by the fire pit.
We hiked at Ohiopyle State Park and ate in downtown Ohiopyle.
We will definitely be back and will stay here
We had a great stay at the outpost cabin! It was a perfect little getaway and very close to ohiopyle. The cabin was tucked away but also not too far from restaurants and stores. The cabin was clean and cozy and equipped with everything we could need.
Just returned from a five day trip to the Laurel Highlands and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Outpost. It was an adorable, well equipped cabin right in the middle of a stunning forest. Highly recommend staying here and will probably book a return trip soon! Thanks!
Rustic secluded beautiful property for kids and pets
The property is beautifully quiet in the center of nature and wildlife. The house is basically clean although itâs been awhile since it has had a deep cleaning.
It is a wonderful location for families with children who might be less noticeable of the details, although with a thorough cleaning this property would be ideally suited for any group looking to enjoy a nature setting.
The Outpost was the perfect getaway. It was cozy, very clean, and well stocked with everything we needed including wood for the fire pit. We especially loved daily visits from Bart and Sofi. They are the sweetest and got along so well with our dogs. I feel like they become apart of our family for the weekend and we sure do miss them. The two ponds on the property were great for our shepherd. She loved taking daily swims in both ponds with Bart. The Outpost is very close to Ohiopyle State Park which is a must see. We will definitely return for another stay and canât wait until then.
