Nice Hotel Very Close to St Marks Square

Pros: Location - perfect
Cons: Tea and coffee making facilities added to the rooms
Location: Location is central to everything, two minute walk and you are in St Marks square
The Hotel is more like an upmarket B&B, there is no bar and is very basic, but very comfortable, clean and close to the center of Venice. I can see how some people would have much difficulty in trying to find this hotel, as it is located in a small back ally off one of the squares. If you do stay here then make sure you have good walking directions to the hotel from your drop off point (there are some very good directions on trip adviser in the October 2015 posts). This hotel is close to everything there is to see and do in Venice and not more that five to ten minutes walking distance (dependent on how big the crowds are, that you have to walk through).

We were originally scheduled to arrive in Venice at midnight ... I am almost relieved that we missed out flight and couldn't make it until early the next morning, as no way can I see us having been able to find this hotel at night. It took us a lot of walking round and round and round and round to find it in the day ... and I knew the location it was in, having stayed in the San Marco area 3 times already. When we got to the hotel we were told that due to flooding we were being moved to a sister hotel the Antico Pananda. I think this is a common occurence (having read this on the internet - also common for people not to be able to find Citta di Milano hotel!) I was really pleased because I'd stayed at the Antico Panada previously and said it was a nice hotel. Um ... the main bit of it was, but this time we were taken to an overspill part of the hotel, which was so bad I refused to stay there. We were then shown to 2 more rooms and not wanting to lose more of our holiday traipsing round looking at more rooms, we stayed in the 3rd room we were shown. This room was another sister hotel, but dark and claustrophic and the air con didn't work ... no problem we thought, we'll open the window. We realised our mistake in the morning, when we work up with more than 50 mosquito bites between us! My partner was worried that there were bed bugs or fleas, but an internet search revealed that mosquitos can still be around in October and when I looked at the walls of the room, I could see quite a few swatted mosquitoes. We spent the next 2 nights sweltering in the heat, with no air con and no open window. Anyway, on to the positives ... room was cleaned every day, amazing location, bathroom was nice, clean and modern. Breakfast was at the main Antico Pananda hotel and was a cold buffet ... nice and perfectly adequate for me and with juice and coffee and the staff were very pleasant.

Super stay plenty to see and do

Beautiful city very crowded but plenty to do. Burano was a lovely place to visit and see the lace making. We felt St Marks Square was a must visit for coffe and music. 3days was not quite enough time to cover all areas. The restaurant belonging to our hotel in the little square adjoining was very good and could be recommended for food,service and great waiters, although the breakfasts in the hotel left a lot to be desired.

Venice 2015

Really clean hotel ,great location once you find the hotel(not the Hotels fault Venice council take years to approve signage of any description ) but once there very very clean , great continental breakfast would highly recommend this hotel and will stay again for all the above reasons,close to all great places to see :-)

Ideal short break location

The Citta di Milano hotel is in a great location with easy access to the main sites of Venice, it is a little difficult to locate initially as are most of the smaller hotels. The room we had was a good size however the bed was not very comfortable. Breakfast is basic bread rolls and cereal's. The hotel offers very good value overall.

A very nice hotel, the rooms were exactly as seen in the pictures. The location is good, in the middle of Venice where you can walk anywhere. 2023 🇫🇮

Gut gelegenes Hotel, nahe am Markusplatz aber trotzdem ruhig da es sich in einer Seitengasse befindet. Die Ausstattung ist gut, einzig das Frühstücksbuffet dürfte noch etwas reichhaltiger sein.

Beim Einchecken wurden wir vom Hotel Citta di Milano zu einem anderen Hotel gebracht, da anscheinend kein Platz - und vom anderen Hotel ca. 5 Minuten zu Fuss in eine Gasse wo dann endlich unser Zimmer war.
