The headline is just as advertised. "A cozy, pet friendly cottage in Alexandria". The back yard was fantastic for our pup who spent hours chasing squirrels up a beautiful tree. The house was very comfortable and pet friendly as well. It is in a charming safe neighborhood. We will definitely consider staying again if we are back in the area and the house is available.
We are new to the area and needed a pet friendly home base while we house hunted - this place was great. We had our dogs and daughter with us and both loved the yard and the deck. The high fence in the yard kept me at ease that my big dogs wouldnât escape. Great location, great neighborhood, pet friendly (but not dirty!). It was everything we needed for our stay. Honestly would stay again.
This one of the worst stays I have had in a very long time. Positives. - The neighborhood is wonderful.- The yard if you have a large dog. But there are spots in the fence I felt my small dog might be able to get through.Negative, and if it had been ONE of these things, I would have just ignored it.- The front walkway is just pieces of plywood and a sketch metal ramp.- The house needs a deep cleaning. - The was some questionable drywall patching jobs done around two light switches in one of the bedrooms.- The bed in one of the rooms felt like it was about to collapse with the slightest movement. - A used bar of soap was also left in the shower. No one wants to use that.- The shower curtain rod fell on my moms head the first time she used the shower. - The couch cushion was held up by a peice of foam.- Honestly, none of the furniture was very comfortable.- There were boards under the rug on the deck that felt like they were about to collapse. But the worst thing was my dog got a hold of a mice eliminator pouch that was left under a bed. Thankfully it was not mouse poison but I did have to pay 95 to call animal poison control to see if I needed to take her to the emergency vet. When I contacted the owner, the response was basically I didn't put it there. I don't know many people who travel with that. I left a day early and if I could have gotten my money back I would have left before that.
We are locals that were having some work done in our house and needed a place to stay for a week. New Alexandria is a quaint neighborhood that is perfectly located near our home and walking distance to restaurants, groceries and shops. What a surprise to find this property in need of a deep cleaning and some TLC. I am sure that at one time this little cottage was a gem but now it is worn and tired and is in need of repairs and attention.
We had a big issue with bugs in the kitchen during our stay and had to leave after a night because it didnât feel sanitary enough for our young family there. The host I believe has good intentions; a refund seems to be going thru and she was apologetic and had tried to get the property ready for guests. Since it is a vintage house it is probably very hard to seal completely. I hope the hosts can take major steps to de-bug the property and seal it off because it is in a great location and has a lot of potential. It did really hurt our trip to have to leave, I wish it had worked out.
We had a nice time renting Micaelaâs home. Thank you for allowing our dog to stay as well, she enjoyed the fenced in backyard. The home was in a really nice, very walkable neighborhood convenient (Dunkin and grocery store right down street) to many landmarks.
The master bed was really comfy. The kitchen had everything (coffee maker didnât work for us but we just hopped down to Dunkin) but home could have used a thorough cleaning (weâre not clean freaks either so weâre not being overly picky). Just being honest.
We had a lovely stay here. The neighborhood was safe and within walking distance to a shopping center. Easy access to DC where there is alot to do! Our family of 4 were very comfortable. Big backyard, and although we didnât bring our dog, the home is very pet friendly. We did have an ant issue, which the host immediately took care with a visit from pest control and it subsided almost immediately. We are looking forward to our next stay here and cant wait to come back!
My family an I (including our dog) had a wonderful week at this lovely house in a wonderful location. The host provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay, and communicated very well with us from booking to checkout.
