Good price for our stay in DC but we had some issues with a lot dead flies in the property on the floor and swarms of flies and rats (at night) at the front door everyday which made it difficult to avoid and we were trying not get anymore flies inside. Multiple homeless people hanging around outside, fighting and screaming everyday and it wasnât much of a nice area to walk around in. We liked the two bathrooms and washing machine/dryer but the bed was quite small and creaky
Next door to liquor store. People smoking drugs and drinking at the store, up and around the location. Did not feel safe at all. Manager very understanding and refunded all but one day which I still do not agree with. Would never have booked this had I had all the information. Pictures were not accurate as there were changes. This is no place for women or business caliber people. Payam was very kind however.
The location was within walking distance of the National Mall as well as restaurants and grocery stores, making it very convenient. The steps down to the basement apartment felt a little treacherous without a hand rail -especially in a rainstorm! Our host stayed in communication and brought coffee and body wash when we requested it but did not provide the light bulb or shampoo we asked for (not a big deal). The shower took some getting used to (water pressure and temperature challenges), but overall we had a good experience living in DC for a week. The people who loitered around the liquor store next door never bothered us.
The property itself is great. But I have to agree with other reviewers that the location is indeed sketchy. I know it's not their fault but on one of the days there was literally a shooting a block away that had dozens of police cars coming to. And the people that just.... hang around the liquor store next door harassed the person I was staying with. Again, the property itself is really great. And so is the host; very responsive. But the location is not the greatest.
This place is very conveniently located in downtown DC, where everything you can want to see, do or experience is just a short distance away. This was perfect for our short visit the owner was super nice, super responsive and vey helpful
The host was excellent to deal with. Prompt replies and accommodating to special requests (early check in, luggage storage etc...)
The location isn't ideal as it's situated right beside a somewhat sketchy liquor store. Upon entering the gate to the property you're greeted by the smell of garbage as it's right next to the entrance. Cockroaches were around the stairs to the basement suite at night. Thankfully none were noticed in the suite.
Inside:
The furniture is not great. Two futon couches...one of which has seen better days. The main bedroom bed was extremely uncomfortable. I was ok with it being a double but still expected a proper box spring and mattress.
Kitchen;
Appliances are new and of good quality. The available pots and pans could use a refresh (I was worried I'd lose the handle on the one pot it was so loose)
Electrical:
Odd... bedroom end tables have bedside lamps but they're not plugged in nor have anywhere to do so.
Wine cooler available except it didn't work or wasn't plugged in
End of the day the hosts were extremely friendly and easy to deal with but I do think there is much better value for your $ in other properties in around DC
Our 1 weeks stay at this apartment was overall positive. The location of this apartment may not be for everyone though. If you are used to a big cityâs noise and residents, you will be happy with this rental. We are from a much quieter, rural area and all the noise and traffic were a bit overwhelming at times. The amenities were just as described in the listing. The apartment is located only an easy walk to some great restaurants and the Noma/Galludet metro rail station. Overall positive stay, but the location may not be for everyone.
The property was lovely. Just as listed. My only issue, being a solo female traveler, outside the property was a little sketchy. It had a wonderful privacy fence but was located right next to a liquor store that had a lot of people just hanging out all day. They were super loud. It was a bit uncomfortable, even through the gates outdoors. Again single female traveler with a dog, 35lb Frenchie. Not at any point would this be on the host. But I just didnât feel comfortable and we left four days early. Had my boyfriend been with me it wouldâve been a different story, I wouldâve felt more safe. Yet again. Not at any fault of the host, just didnât feel comfortable. It was a gorgeous rental. But just not for me.
