Dated but clean

The hotel is very dated, the lobby hasn't been updated, the tile is atrocious. The 2 double bed room has a big bathroom but the furnishings were very old. We called to get a roll away bed but they do not offer them so we didn't get the best sleep. The doormen were very nice and the restaurant/bar area was good for late night snacks. The location was good too. It seemed expensive for the look of the hotel and the amenities.

If you are up for an retro chic hotel stay, this is it: the hotel that Don Draper would have stayed at in 1964 on his trip to DC. And they've done a really nice job of keeping the place up; it's clearly been refurbished without losing any of the original character or charm. Unlike most hotels from this era the carpet doesn't stink of stale cigarette smoke; accommodations are spacious and comfy. On the eco front: the over-use of bottled water and no water bottle filling on the ground floor is unfortunate (there may be one in the fitness center, I didn't make it down there). The inability to change the heat/cooling setting in the room I was in was also unfortunate; however this is kept to a reasonable compromise between comfort and energy conservation (72F).

The hotel feels a little outdated, especially the hallway and room decor. Also, there was no upper latch to secure my room door, and there was a noticeable 2-3 inch gap between the bottom of my room door and the floor. The hotel was OK, but not worth $360 a night.

Ok, but too expensive.

Being an older hotel that has been remodeled several times I'm sure. Our room seemed to be chopped up, light switches were in awkward locations. We have stayed in much nicer places for a lot less money.
