We really enjoyed our stay! The property was beautiful, in a wonderful neighborhood, and had everything we could possibly need (and more). It felt comfortable and welcoming, which made our time there extra enjoyable.
Excellent. Used for overflow from lake accommodations. Great location in "downtown" West Brookfield. An added plus is host owns both units in the duplex so there is room for 13 total (something we took advantage of)
This apartment was a nice alternative to the mediocre hotels in Sturbridge. It is nothing fancy and the stairs are a little steep and dark, but the rooms and beds were comfortable; the wi-fi was strong; the kitchen was more than adequate. Cute town but few amenities. Good communication from host. A solid B. Great value.
I was disappointed with this property. The AC unit was so loud, it was difficult to sleep. The other bedroom didn't have sheets on the bed. There was a dirty, greasy cookie sheet left for us in the oven. There was no soap in the soap dispensers in the shower. On Sunday morning at 6:55am, a landscapper was weedwacking and mowing. When we told him we were all still sleeping, he said he was allowed to be doing his noisy yard work, instead of saying he could come back later. On the positive side, the owner was receptive to our issues and corrected things, but I'm on vacation and didn't want to be calling him every day with issues that should have been taken care of before we arrived.
Just what we needed. Everything was clean and nicely set up, with several extra benefits we weren't expecting, from laundry soap to coffee supplies. Our son joined us for one night and it was nice to have the extra room. This was our first VRBO experience, so we weren't sure what to expect, but we would definitely stay here again.
Has some real potential but lacking some vital components
This is a fairly nice, upstairs apartment that, with a little attention, could be excellent. The sheets, pillows and blankets are all very nice. The main bedroom is spacious, but the 2nd bedroom is tiny. There are no hand towels or wash cloths available. There is no toaster, and there were no filters for the coffee maker. I had contacted the host beforehand to ask specifically for those items and he had assured me they were there, so that put me in a bad mood right away the next morning. The window unit air conditioner is in the main bedroom and probably isn't enough to keep the entire place cool. In addition there is a curtain on that window, that, if you use it to keep the room dark while sleeping, you cover the AC unit so the curtain isn't usable. You will get the sun in your face at sunrise and there is nothing you can do about it unless you have safety pins or clothes pins and can somehow bunch up the curtain so it falls just above the air conditioner. I didn't see any outlets in the kitchen to plug in my laptop and the kitchen was the only place with a table, other than the coffee table in the living room. There is broken furniture on the upstairs deck outside the kitchen. There were also some tomato seeds on the kitchen counter so it didn't appear to have been cleaned thoroughly. The shower has three dispensers: I assume one was for soap, one was for shampoo, and the other was for conditioner, but they weren't labeled. I paid for 2 nights, left after 1.
I stayed here for 3 nights to do some ancestry research in West Brookfield and surrounding towns. It was the perfect home base near the historic buildings of West Brookfield and just a short walk to the charming town green and a few local restaurants and markets. The second-floor setting was quiet and spacious with ample amenities. The host was very responsive to a few small requests. The property is not perfect because itâs in an old home, but the quirks do not outweigh the charm and convenience of the location.
A friend and I stayed here for 2 nights. The directions for parking and checking in were clear and easy. It looks like we were one of the first people to stay in this unit. There was an air conditioner in two out of the 3 bedrooms. The kitchen and living room were quite warm without an air conditioner. The beds did not have mattress covers, but other than that were quite comfortable. There were 3 bath towels in the unit, which was enough for us, but if we had up to 6 there wouldnât be enough. Also we couldnât find any dishcloths to clean dishes. I had to use a wet soapy paper towel. There also werenât any wash cloths or bathroom hand towels in the unit. With these improvements, we would consider staying there again in the future.
