We had challenging weather but still had lots of fun. The lake was in a drought, so too low to go boating, and we had cool rainy weather our entire stay, so we hardly used the pool. Fortunately, the house had more than enough to keep us busy. The photos of the arcade in the listing are an understatement. The kids and adults stayed busy playing games, using the hot tub, enjoying the massage chair. and watching tv. We were pleasantly surprised by how little of the arcade noise you could hear in the bedrooms, which are spaced away from the arcade. We had some minor maintenance issues during our stay, and the hosts were incredibly responsive, showing up within an hour to completely resolve the concerns. The home is well-stocked with toiletries and whatever you might have forgotten at home. The kitchen has plenty of coffee and tea available as well as basic spices. My kids have already asked when we can go back!

This was the perfect place for our family who came in from CA & FL for my son’s graduation. The kids and the adults LOVED the amazing arcade (pictures didn’t do it justice). Kept the kids off their phones! The kitchen was so well stocked with everything you could possibly want plus loved the double ovens & fridges! It was a bummer that the water level was so low in the lake as the view was more beach than lake but we absolutely loved the home & would definitely come back again!

Another great weekend with family. Second time we have rented this property. The only negative was on Saturday night a water tanker dumped COLD water into the pool and it was freezing the next day so couldn’t use the pool much.

overall a nice location but property is overgrown, rotting at stairwell to lake and around land making it a safety issue. the interior is outdated and several of the games did not workotherwise it is a nice place

Lovely family vacation in beautiful house!

We had a great family vacation at the castle - we loved that the bedrooms were spacious and many had en suite bathrooms, the pool was so clean and spending time in the pool with all the water toys provided was everyone’s favorite part of the trip! The arcade downstairs was super fun for all too. The lakefront at the house was a bit muddy when we went so we didn’t swim there but enjoyed the kayaks! The location is convenient to different places we wanted to go and we especially loved the smith mountain lake beach!

Great stay at the arcade castle

We bumped into this vrbo listing with pictures of an in-house arcade and knew we would be staying here. It was awesome. Truly a unique home on a beautiful property overlooking a quiet part of the lake. Lots to do. Jamie was fantastic when we had any questions and had great recommendations for where to go when we wanted to go out. Awesome trip.

The Party Castle of my Dreams

Rented Blackwater for my 40th birthday celebration. I couldn't imagine a better place if I tried. The home is beautiful, comfortable, and well-appointed. The arcade was beyond my dreams! The decorations for Halloween made it even better. We're already planning a return in the summer. Communication with the host was fast and reliable, and they added some personal touches for my birthday that were very sweet and definitely appreciated. The kitchen also had everything we needed! I'm in love.

An excellent time!

My friends and I stayed here for a long weekend and had a wonderful time. From the arcade to the fire pit to fishing on the dock there was something for everyone! Great communication from the hosts and overall we all had a wonderful time. Can't wait to return!

Best three generations family vacation ever!

Nice variety of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages. House was immaculate! No surprises. Jamie, our host, quickly responded to any questions. Was lovely to be outside in a mosquito-free environment . Exploring the lake with the provided kayaks was a favorite family pastime. We were fortunate to have, probably the best weather week of the entire summer, so the pool was used almost non-stop. Awesome family time! andwas

Kids loved the arcade it is commercial grade for sure- pool was awesome and the house is very very clean! Clean is important to us- only thing is it is not great for a boat very low water......but it is named black water creek so it is in the name. Very big house and great place for family.

Great place to stay

We recently stayed at the castle with our family and friends. The house was clean and well appointed. The kids and adults loved the game room, pool and dock at the lake. I would recommend this as a great location with plenty to do if just staying close to the house and within reasonable driving to anything that you'll need. We will definitely consider staying there again if the opportunity comes up. The host was very responsive to questions and requests.

Second visit to the Castle

This was our second trip to The Castle which is under new ownership that have made additional upgrades. We came with 7 adults and 5 kids 8-16. The kids remembered the fun going from the large pool to the world class game room and kept asking us to return.

Family Vacation

Overall we had a great time. Our 3 children, and their families all came for a great week. There was a problem with the lock when we arrived and it took us 2 hours to get into the home. Things happen, we survived. One other problem that the owner told us they would handle for future guests was where you park when the trash man came. At 6:45 the trashman was honking the horn. Most of us thought it was someone who had come onto the lake. Then there was pounding at the front door. My son in law went to the door, the trash man was screaming at him to open the door. Demanded to know if we were owners or renters. My son in law finally opened the door and told him to calm down. The trash man was very aggressive telling him he couldnt turn his truck around because of one of the cars was parked in the way. We did move the car, but had no idea we were restricted as to where we could park. (The owners told us they would put up a sign for future renters). The trashman that was aggressive and demanding did tell his office, but downplayed his screaming, pounding on the door and how aggressive he was. The trash company portrayed to the owners that it was a very minor inconvenience that took 5 minutes. . This situation put a damper on the entire day. It woke up 2 infants and 2 toddlers.pounding on the door and the screaming at my son in law. Im sure the owners will post signs, but in todays world we had no idea what the trashman would do. on the front door. My son in law aspouses

The Castle

This property was everything it said it is! So much to do at the house we rarely left. The pool was wonderful and the game room was spectacular! Would definitely rent again and highly recommend to anyone with a large group that want a fabulous home to stay in!

Nothing short of A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!

We had a wonderful stay at the castle! There was so much to do that we only left to shop and dinners. We spent our days fishing, kayaking, poolside, out to dinner and then gaming! On repeat for 6 days.. It was fabulous! We will be back! Also, Jamie the host, thought about everything to make our stay cozy from toiletries, beach towels, hair dryers, condiments, etc. All the things you normally would have to buy prior were there at our arrival. It was fantastic!! 5 out 5 stars!
