Not the best driveway if you have a bass boat and trailer to back up but the listing is accurate, the host was pleasant, the house was clean. No complaints.
This was a cozy cottage just perfect for our fall family getaway. We were pleased to find all the necessary utensils for cooking and we made ourselves right at home. Communication with the owner was prompt when we had a question. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return next year.
We had a lovely time. Our kids loved to kayak on the nearby lake. They caught more fish on Wildwood lake than anywhere else. They were down there morning and night. The lay out of the cottage is so perfect. The suit case racks instead of dressers was brilliant. The big counters and stocked kitchen made meal prep so easy for us to cook at âhomeâ. The extra snacks and fridge items were very thoughtful.
The location of this was nice because it was out away from the hustle and hustle, but close to a lot of great locations. We liked being near the lake and went to fish out on it every night. We also appreciated the light snacks available, so thoughtful! It was quite hot in the cabin when we were there, though the lack of air conditioning was mentioned in the listing. Thanks for having us!
We spent a week at the cottage leading up to the 4th. It was a great location centrally located and less than an hour from Petoskey, Mackinaw City, and Cheboygan. We visited each at least once. It is also close to Burt and Mullet lakes which we spent time on with our boat as well. The cabin was stocked with all the cooking and eating necessities and they even had a gas grill and a blackstone which was great as we ate in as much as possible. Backing a trailer (boat) into the lower driveway was a bit difficult as the cabin is located just off the paved road on a section of gravel and it is on a fairly steep side-hill. I had the best luck backing in downhill as the surge brakes on the trailer locked when trying to back in up hill, so it's something to be mindful of, but it wasn't a huge problem for us. If you're less experienced with your trailer, you may want to contact the owners prior to your visit for some advise on how best to approach the driveways.
The cottage was cute and ideal. However, the pictures shown are outdated. The property itself sits on a busy road. The grounds have not had any upkeep. There was trash in the fire pit. Inside is quaint. Rooms were a good size and host offered snacks. However, was not clean. The coffee maker needs to be cleaned. The fridge had residue of food crumbs. The counter had dried sauce and the microwave had seen better days before what looked like a food explosion. The rag left to clean dishes had food residue in it. Luckily I brought my own cookware and dishes and dish rag. The bed in the "master" was uncomfortable leaving me with a pain in my back. This was not a relaxing experience unfortunately. Lots of potential, just not for me.
Great place to stay, location is quiet and peaceful, close to trails, and all the amenities needed for cooking in kitchen or having a bbq. The remodeled bathroom is great and the updated front porch looks great as well! Our 3rd time staying there and will be back again next time we go to Wolverine.
Our stay was absolutely magical - sipping hot cocoa beside the crackling fire while nestled on the couch, surrounded by charming wooden interiors. Despite heavy snowfall, the convenient location made our trips to Boyne Mountain effortless. A perfect winter retreat!
28th Anniversary with the family in northern Michigan.
Awesome little cottage! We were impressed by the warm hospitality and attention ention to detail. The accommodations was clean and tastefully decorated with an old school lodge feeling, providing a cozy and comfortable winter retreat throughout our stay as a matter of fact I ordered some flannel sheets like the ones we slept on there as soon as I got home! Vessnesa and Dave ensured we had everything we needed, and their prompt communication made the entire experience seamless. The location was fantastic, offering easy access to the main roads and northern Michigan attractions. Overall, we had a wonderful time I can't recall the last time my family sat at the same table for dinner and that made it worth everything! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable northern experience!
Definitely more a cabin than a house. Very cozy and homey. If you have a small family and don't mind it being a bit cold, this is a wonderful place to stay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!
This was a very cute cabin. We were even able to get in a couple hrs early. We would definitely stay here again. The main bed was very comfortable too.
Very nice stay here. 4 of us went up in a little bow hunting excursion. Slept us all comfortably, good heat, nice shower and very clean. Itâs less then a mile to the pigeon river forest which is where we were headed. Very accommodating, we asked to switch our dates and thankfully it wasnât an issue. Very pleasant hosts. We will be booking again next fall!
We had a great, relaxing stay!! We had hoped to see more elk than we did but it was all good!! The fall colors were starting to turn and pretty where we spotted them!! Only one downside we struggled with the Roku tv setup, probably because we're not that tech savvy!! Thank you Dave & Vanessa for letting us stay at your cabin!!
We had a great time at this little rental. We were greeted with goodies and drinks and the house was very well stocked with all our needs.
We would absolutely recommend this place. When my daughter and I left my granddaughter said âcan we please come back here againâ. She is 5.
We definitely enjoyed our stay at this rental. The pictures showing the property are as advertised. Very comfortable bed and the kids enjoyed the bunk beds! The WiFi never had any issues. We spent a night by the firepit looking at syars. Cozy!
We enjoyed the little cabin in the woods. It was comfortable, clean, thoughtful hospitality, and lots of amenities. It was a perfect getaway that was 30- 45 minute drive from Gaylord, Boyne, and Mackinaw.
We ended up having 5 ppl stay. 2 couples and my 15 year old nephew. The house was very clean and well stocked. The host is very responsive and the check in instructions were very clear and easy. The 2 driveways accommodated 2 trucks with large trailers and side by sides. We drove to the trails from the house. The beds were very comfortable, definitely some of the best weâve slept on in a rental. I would rent again!
