The receptionist was very welcoming on arrival and we were checked in speedily. Our bedroom although small was well designed and very cosy. We ate an excellent dinner in the Forest Restaurant and breakfast was equally as good.

Great hotel, lovely room, brilliant staff. Lots of noise during the night from people shouting in the street. Deliveries and glass recycling starts early. Whilst a lovely hotel only stay if you are used to city noise.

The whole experience was top drawer. The service was friendly, efficient and easy going, the bed was the best I’ve slept in in a hotel and the room lovely with a great shower. Breakfast was included with a variety of choice based around local produce and generous portions. The hotel is in a beautiful listed building that the owners have preserved and modernised in perfect harmony. Location - two minutes from the Minster in the heart of old world York - perfect. We will definitely be back.

This is such a lovely hotel, we had a twin room on the top floor. The room was clean and comfortable and had a lot of charm. We had breakfast twice and there is plenty to choose from the menu. We also had an evening meal, the prawn cocktail was delicious and they are not shy on the prawns it seemed endless and very fulfilling,followed by salmon and potatoes that was cooked perfectly. The staff were so nice and helpful and nothing was to much .The property itself is a 15 min walk from the train station and in the heart of everything going on . The cathedral was a literally a 2 min walk and the shambles was a 5 min walk . The Xmas market was maybe 5/10 min walk and was charming I came here with my sissy and I plan on returning with my hubby.

Top notch breakfast. Great coffee. Location was perfect. My only complaint was the lack of a shelf for my toiletry bag in the bathroom. But I’ll take location over a shelf any day.

The hotel is located right in downtown York, with an excellent location in the old town. However, the facilities are a bit dated, and the bathroom is quite small — the shower water splashes out easily. I only showered for about ten minutes before a staff member knocked on my door saying the ceiling of the room below was leaking 😂. But their breakfast was amazing — it’s ordered from a menu and freshly cooked, very tasty and unique!

The location is superb. Easy walk from the train and then you’re right in the heart of the city. Staff are friendly and nothing too much trouble. The bedroom and en-suite were lovely but the only issue I had was the bed in Room 2 was really uncomfortable. I don’t usually notice these things but it did detract. The duvet was also wafer thin on a cool night. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very generous. I had dinner there too and the salmon was exceptional.
I only wanted half the breakfast. Add sausage, black pudding toast and beans

Great location but take ear plugs

The location of the hotel is great York Minster 2 minute walk away, room great for our needs and Breakfast was lovely. Only issue is the noise from the front of the hotel we had a room at the front and could hear everything plus why the rooms windows were being cleaned at 7.30am was bit of a shock.

Excellent location, fantastic Yorkshire full breakfast, but the mention “parking available” is confusing, as you must walk 10 minutes from the private owned parking to the hotel with your luggage, and pay an extra GBP 27.00 for one night.
