L'appartement Benimar est situĂ© dans le quartier recherchĂ© "El Duque" non loin de la plage. La mer est Ă  environ 750 mĂštres. Location is fine, quiet and in a nice complex. A 15 minutes walk to Fanabe beach which is very nice, and not very far from shops and bars.The great issue is the lack of cleanliness and maintenance of the apartment. It was dirty, there are spots on pillows, and furniture is old and damaged. Very disappointing for the price !

Too far out

The complex is well maintained, but not near any shop, restaurants etc. The nearest supermarket is a 10 minute walk and all uphill when returning, which makes shopping difficult. The apartment is very spacious and well equipped, with a large balcony. Unfortunately the kitchen is awfully small, with very little work surface and very few electric points. As I love cooking, I found this very difficult. On arrival the cleaning explained that the curtain rail was falling down and someone would call to repair it. I immediately emailed the property owner regarding the rail and also contacted the next morning, reporting a faulty toaster. On our departure these faults were still outstanding. Quite honestly the apartment needs a face lift

Lovely big private balcony

The property was nice, especially the balcony area which was quite private (apart from the people above) and got sun from about 12-6pm in February which was excellent. Whilst it’s in a quiet residential area you can walk to the beach in 10 mins (all downhill) and get a taxi back for a few €. The nearest beach is my favourite in the area. There is also a small shopping centre with supermarket and pubs about 4 mins walk. The beds were really comfy and the bathroom with the shower had plenty of hot water. Kitchen well equipped and the WiFi was great. We arrived at the end of a really bad calima and considering this the apartment and complex was clean. The pool area (which The calima has dumped a lot of sand in) was cleaned within 24 hours of it ending! A few things that could make it 5 star- there was no info inside the apartment we arrived at night, didn’t know where we were for a supermarket for water etc. and neither did the person showing us around. We had absolutely no clue how to work the TV (got Netflix working but none of the sky channels). The curtain pole in the bedroom was hanging off when we arrived so we never used that door to the balcony but wasn’t a big deal. The one thing. That did spoil our stay was the check out. We had a late flight and asked to check out at 3pm. We were told to check the day before (fair enough) phoned the day before and couldn’t get a late checkout because someone else coming the next day. I asked if maybe 12 noon was even possible to be told NO 10am. So I asked if there was anywhere we could go with our luggage etc. And was abruptly told ‘no responsible for luggage’ and call ended. So we were ready to go at 10am but didn’t know where to leave keys etc. We sat at the pool area with our luggage in the apartment doorway for over an hour and no one arrived, I stayed at the pool with my stuff but my other half went back into apartment with the cases and waited on the balcony. The people arrived to clean the apartment at 12.15 and shouted at my partner for still being there and said we should just have left the apartment open?? A) they clearly could have accommodated a 12 noon checkout and didn’t and b) again poor communication about where to leave keys and c) Spoken to abruptly again for the 2nd time in 24 hours by people at this apartment. It really was a disappointing end to the holiday which could have easily been avoided with better communication. 10am checkout Rule is very early when cleaner comes after 12?

Very nice apartment in great location

Just had a months stay in this apartment. All very nice and very quiet, comfortable stay. A few hitches with the satellite TV but got the knack if it in the end. It’s a shame the outdoor grill did not work because we like to cook outside. But it wasn’t a problem. We both enjoyed the comforts of home. The terrace was a large sun trap which was great. We would definitely book this apartment again without a doubt. Was a bit concerned though why Julio wanted €3 a day for using the safe? But we had to pay it as we needed to put money and passports somewhere. (Felt that was a bit of a cheek really, as the safe was situated in the apartment and that’s what we paid for ). Pool wasn’t heated either. But this didn’t spoil our holiday. We had a lovely relaxed time

Great location, but needs work!

The property is in a great location within a safe gated complex. We were met by Stefan and shown to the apartment, we were only supplied with 1 set of keys which is totally impractical, when you have your 20 year old daughter with you. I spent the first half day of my holiday cleaning the apartment as the floors inside and outside were very dirty (I don’t think the patio had been hosed or mopped in weeks). The pool is located just outside the front door but neither of the pools were heated. We had problems with the hot water we made a phone call and this was sorted immediately. However the large spa bath can’t be used as it takes 200L to fill and the water tank only holds 50L of hot water. You also have to wait 30 minutes between showers for the water to heat again. We also had a problem with the electrics tripping, I spoke to Stefan who asked if I had the kettle on at the time. The next day a brand new kettle and toaster were delivered. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, I did cook quite a few meals. WiFi is ok. Lots of English channels on TV in lounge but no English channels on the TV in the bedroom (external box, Italian channels only). The apartment could do with a lick of paint and a deep clean, lots of dirty marks on walls and woodwork. I would stay here again however on the proviso that the apartment had been throughly cleaned before arrival and an extra set of keys could be had.

A disappointment

As soon as we walked into this apartment we were struck by how dated it was. This was reinforced by things we found that had seen better days. This included cushion covers held together by safety pins, towels that were really thin and rough and bedding that could do with replacing. There was just one small cushion sized pillow on each bed. Managed to find an extra pillow each in the wardrobe but there were no extra pillowcases so had to put them on the bed as they were (I cannot sleep with less than 2 pillows). This apartment was advertised as having SAT-TV with international channels but we had no English channels! I queried this with Sven who advised there should be 1200 channels implying that some should be in English and to contact the maintenance team to sort it out. Someone did come out but was unable to cure the problem. Consequently, we had no TV for the whole week. Also, advertised as having a heated pool but both pools very cold (unheated) so we were unable to do any swimming. Reason I booked this apartment was the TV and the swimming pool both of which were a let down. The property was very clean and we enjoyed sitting on the large terrace ( although no mountain views like the last reviewer mentioned so don't know where they were looking?). Only view we had was of other properties overlooking us. Unfortunately, negatives outweigh the positives and we will not be returning.
