It’s important to book your restaurants in advance . Restaurants are usually booked up before you get here. Guest services was helpful in finding us options during our stay. We loved the pools and location. Food was excellent at the Akumal buffet. Our family really enjoyed it. Music performances through the week were great. Thank you for an excellent experience. We will be back.
Frutos Del Mar has incredible food service. Try the grilled lobster.

The staff is extremely friendly, the food is excellent and the rooms are clean. Many pools and entertainment. The only problem: is hard to get restaurant reservations. We stayed 7 nights and only got one reservation in a Spanish restaurant (the vegan steak was delicious). Vegan options are available in the buffet as well. Overall, the experience was great, I would definitely like to go back again.

I spent my time in the beautiful Caribbean Sea at the adult only area. There were plenty of lounge chairs and close enough to the poolside bar. In conversation with another fellow traveler, he mentioned the buffet at Siam Kaan, which was just amazing. The area is also adult only, the buffet is smaller, but the selection was superb.

We went here for our honeymoon for 5 nights and overall had a good time, but it is certainly not "5-star" or "luxury" by any means. Pros: - Beautiful grounds - Lots of places to explore, especially with the shuttle service to the other Bahia hotels - Great area to swim in the ocean, which is unique to the Akumal location - Great drinks - AC works well in the unit and the beds are comfortable Cons: - The staff are really not helpful at all for a supposed 5-star luxury hotel, they are nice at a surface-level but become standoffish as soon as you have any small need or problem and do nothing to help you whatsoever - The food at the buffet is just acceptable, it was the same every day with no variation - The a la carte restaurants are impossible to book unless you do so weeks in advance and the food is very hit or miss - Even as one of the luxury locations, you cannot get top shelf alcohol - The entertainment was overall subpar, we enjoyed the magic show but otherwise there were no other decent shows and no outdoor events like dancing or foam parties - The pools are beautiful but are not heated even when the weather is cooler outside

The room accommodations were fine but the drinks were terrible. Like 1/10. We check in online 10 days before & couldn’t get a dinner reservation through the app. We reached out to the hotel & they said that they can schedule it for us then later said they could not. I asked for birthday banners for myself & my friends who travel with us in a different room but those request weren’t honored. Will not be returning. There is nothing luxury about it except the price.

Room was fine, staff were very nice and helpful. Over half of my party got food poisoning here and were violently sick for a day. They couldn’t fully enjoy the buffet and some had to cancel their restaurant reservations because of it. Signing up for restaurant bookings was more difficult than needed, and most of the times you could just ask for a table anyway without reservation. App was not user friendly. Sometimes the restaurant staff would ask if we had the menu without allowing us to scan a QR code and would rush us to make a decision. Wish the app could show the menu as well as the reservation at the same time or the restaurant provide a paper menu. The map on the app for the resort was also very confusing and finicky. It sometimes didn’t show properly where the location was and just zoomed out to the whole resort. Food was okay, saltier than expected for many dishes. Was expecting restaurant quality to be higher since it was so hard to get a reservation but it wasn’t. A lot of their pudding desserts had no flavour. Entertainment at night was nice. Hours of operation for snack bar was not correct. The room was too cold with fan/AC at night so I grabbed a blanket from the closet but it had bugs living in it. The app allowed you to do many things like order room service or browse activities, but it doesn’t say if the activity is kids only or adults only. The beach was very nice, could see fish just by standing in the water.

Staff was great, food was good, but we couldn't get any reservations despite the fact the restaurants weren't busy. We tried to access the app prior to arrival to reserve before we checked in, sent an email as well trying to make reservations but was unsuccessful. Whoever answered the email thought I was trying to dispute the amount we were charged. Other than that, it was great. Construction going on so it was pretty empty.

Although our room was starting to show its age, it was very clean and the staff was excellent. There was a significant renovation happening to many of the villas so it seems they are keeping the buildings as up to date as they can. The only downside was the food. The dishes at the buffet were consistently mislabeled and the restaurants were extremely difficult to book a reservation, although the food was excellent at the one reservation we did secure
